I am in the prosses of removing my 5sp tranny so i can put a new one in. My question is do i have to remove the axel nuts in order to pull the axels out. Can i just unbolt the tie rods and the lower ball joints?

When i pull my transmissions, i simply remove the 2 17mm bolts on the passenger side strut, the large nut in the middle of the hub, and the 12 mm brake line bolt on the back of the strut. Then i simply pull the hub from the strut while pushing out the axle. that is the easiest way i have found to pull the axles. If it is a FWD, you should only have to pull the passenger side axle...just pop loose the driver side axle at the tranny with a pry bar.

Hope that helps :)

dont disconnect the spindel at the strut. The reason being is that you will set your camber off and you will have to get an alignment. Just take the axle nut off, take the nut off on the ball joint, push it down, swing the spindel, yank the axle out and just move on to the other stuff.

Thats only true if your strut holes are notched to allow for camber adjustments. Stock cars do not come this way you need to modify them.
