Calgary,
I did a search and couldn't find anything specific to my particular issue.
I am working on a 98 Talon with the 420A engine and an automatic tranny. The car has about 200,000 miles on it and spun a rod bearing. The engine is in the car and I've pulled the oil pan and all the connecting rods off. Unfortunately the spun bearing has damaged the crank so I need to remove it. Do I have to pull the engine? Can this be done with th engine in place? Does the tranny have to come out?
I've pulled all the bolts off of the deck but it seems like there is still something holding it together. Its the first time I've worked on a car with a deck holding the crankshaft in place so I'm not sure whether I'm missing something.
Any guidance would be very much appreciated.
John
