Now don't be a buncha jerks, I looked everywhere for a place to post this "leagaly" found none, so in newbies it goes!

My question is thus,

I have not the time(Work durring those hours) or money to dyno my car where I live.
I 3rd gear pulled on the highway with a 2006 MB SL 550., roadster, V8 382hp 374tq
I inched away from him, he was older and had a mad face, so he was most likely going all out as he revved ME ROFL

Is it fairly safe to asume I have slightly more hp/tq then this stock factory vehicle?

Yes this is kinda street racing and I'm sorry, see my 1st sentance, and my 1st line under "My question is thus" I'm interested in my hp, not whether I won or lost.

Thank you if you offer advice, A simple "yes thats a fair assessment" or "no that means nothing" will do. :dsm:

Being that it was a third gear pull, neglecting weights and gear ratios, I'd say you likely have more horsepower. Torque is a different thing, though. Maybe, maybe not. Probably not, though.

No it is not safe to assume you have "slightly" more power and torque than him, for a couple reasons.

1. Weight difference
2. Gearing Difference (His car was probably AT)
3. Aerodynamic Differences

Hard also to be sure that he was flooring it.

Curb wieght for that model car is 4200, mines 3400ish ?
He had the top down.
He revved me as I came up on him cruising, and he pulled away from me twice as I wasn't in the mood, the 3rd time we were door to door and he pulled a nose then I inched by him by the time we hit like 75-80 that car is a 7speed padle shift........his face was mad as hell when I passed him.
He was most likely going all out.

Yea I figured tq would be guess work but I'm just trying to decide if my hp is in the 380 ballpark, and it would seem so, trying to save up for dyno time. only running 22psi on a 50trim full mods LOL lookout when I crank her up !

Thanks for being cool guys :dsm:

3400!!!!! for a GST!!!!! I hope not. Unless you got the special depleted uranium doors... It's sub-3000lbs. Curb weight of 2899

So, he's hauling 1300-ish lbs more aka 40%+ more weight. So, EVEN IF everthing else was equal (which it's not, especially if he's in a convertable) you're looking at a 40% handicap. So, what... 230...

In ANY case, it doesn't really matter, as there are far too many variables. Besides that, it's both bench, and street racing. I imagine you have a "negative rep" for such posts.

That cars weight I got listed as "curb weight" im not even sure what my 96 Gst's "curb weight" is. I do klnow the gvrw or whatever is like 3400ish on the door sticker, so he was alittle heavier then me /shrug.

And this isn't about street racing it's about hp.
And the stupid rep shit is from cussing out the spelling nazi's on this forum, I'm here to talk/help about cars, not get grammar lessons from people who need more grease on there hands then typing caluses :thumb:

And this is the 1st and probably only post of this nature I'll ever make due to this sights stupid rules against this normal, perfectly legitimate type of question, I can not afford to Dyno my car, it's outrageous where I live, and the dyno shop is only open m-f banker hours and I work a Help desk m-f banker hours so it's not gonna happen untill I earn some pto which is like a year from now + the $250 for a friggen hour of dyno time WTF

But, thanks all the same guys :dsm:

Gross Vehicle Weight is the Max you're supposed to load the car (vehicle +cargo/passengers) for continuous and normal driving. (suspension etc. is set up for that weight)

I hear you on some of the "nazi" mod's, but grammar is a good thing. Keeps all the idiots from coming in and "TyPIng LIeK DiS nA mEAn" And guess what, the best builders, the ones with the most grease on their hands... don't talk like that either.

Maybe I'm just blessed to be in a small area, but dyno time around here isn't that much.

$50 for a pull with no wideband
$75 w/ wideband (3 pulls)
$100 per hour, you tune

If you just wanna know what it is and not tune, I don't think it would cost you much. Find a dyno and just do it. It gets rid of all the guesswork here.

i dont think you have more hp or torque, just more or less huge weight diffrence, with those mods i would guess you to be putting down around 300 - 320 hp at 22 psi, just a rough guess though

100% correct.

Besides that, it's both bench, and street racing.
Yup. If it's not one, then it's the other.

I imagine you have a "negative rep" for such posts.
Probably....

This crap is pointless. Why do you even need to "know" your horsepower level? Street racing a Benz does not give you an accurate number at all.

Go to the race track - you'd have a better chance using your trap speed to estimate your HP.
