Bought a 1996 Eagle Talon TSi about 10 months ago for 6,000 and I drove it maybe 6 months before the engine seized up. Haven't opened up the engine but tried everything i could to get it to turn over and it wouldn't, brought it to a mechanic who looked at it and said it was definitely junk.

So I have went on my way trying to save money and find a decent engine. I just graduated high school in May and have been working and got about 2000 right now. I've been looking all over for a decent rebuilt long block but I just don't know what to do.

First off I need the car ASAP because I'm using my mommy's to go to work and I go to college in August. Also I work a lot right now so I wanted to get the engine put in but doesn't look like thats going to happen. I'm also not sure if I should go for a 6-bolt or 7-bolt? This is more of a daily driver and I will probably drag it once in a while but not to much. It had a good amount done to it when I got it and I really have no plans on doing anything else for a long time in the power area.

What I remember right now: Evo Big 16g turbo, 3" GM MAF, MAFT, wideband o2, Boost and EGT gauges, MBC, NGK spark plugs, h&r racing wires, tial bov, fluidyne radiator, power xs fmic and short route piping, R&D thermal turbo-back, injectors, walbro 255, has dsmlink but guy didn't give me cable and told me i could get one from company which was a lie.

So I've checked into about everywhere that rebuilds 4g63's most are pretty exspensive and I've kept a good eye on classified but I'm kind of hesitant on buying from a person. So just looking for any good advice from anyone who has been in my position. What a good way to go would be?

Hey man, $2000 isn't enough for a rebuilt longblock. However if you get in touch with Mark at www.overbore.com he can set you up with a decent 7-bolt for $2850. Now I suggest getting a 7 bolt because swapping in a 6-bolt is not easy and will cost you more. Read up on the 7-bolt to 6-bolt swap forums and you'll see why. So I suggest getting a 7-bolt from Mark and if you want to put down some power down safely I also suggest getting the rods upgraded. I just ordered a 7-bolt from Mark and he's an awesome guy. He helped me pick components out and gave me some good advice. Tell him Tomas from Vancouver Canada sent ya and he'll hook you up. :thumb: ;) :sneaky: Here is is contact info.

Cheers and best of luck to ya. Tom.

A 6-bolt I would defiantly recommend. Go to karking.com and they sell 6 bolts for 2gs without the trouble of the 6bolt swap kit and all that stuff. Its a direct bolt-on. Its about 2600.
