Extreme n00b question v.fuel filter

This is probably the most stupid question I've asked on here but which way do you turn the wrench when taking off the bottom nut on the fuel filter? Away from you if you're standing next to the passenger side fender or towards you? Since it's upside down, I'm kinda disoriented. The last time I changed my fuel filter, I was tightening it instead of loosening it. I can't remember which way I did it. I feel like a dork now.

Right - tight, Left - loose. Just reverse that for a towards you or backwards bolt. OR, you could just do it and figure it out trial and error style.

Well I recently bought some ratcheting wrecnches from sears... they have the sides labeled.....on and ...off you could buy those and use them to understand which way to turn to get off and on as well .....great question though
