this might be a dumb question but, I'm just curious about this. what is the wideband controllers purpose, and can a wideband sensor harness be hooked directly to a air/fuel gauge without a controller? wideband is new to me.

That should cover what you're asking, I think. It's more of a monitoring system then a controller. I'm not really familiar with it being called a "controller" though so I may be wrong. I've got the NGK AFX wideband.

thanks for that info but, it doesn't anwser my question I want to know if I could use just the sensor and gauge

here's a wideband sensor, the harness pluged into the sensor is a built-in controller so, they say andyou still need a gauge

You can, but you will probably kill yourself trying to look at the tach and the WBO2 at the same time when you are trying to tune. I went with the AEM UEGO and plan on wiring that into the ECU so I can log the voltage on my PocketLogger.
