yeah, i've been getting a few different asnwers for a couple questions i had at different places at different times.

its like no one can make their mind.

okay .. heres my questions.

would it be a good idea to purchase performance parts to prepare for the bigger turbo i plan to install for the future? for example ... upgrade parts a step at a time making sure it works then get the turbo last? or turbo first, parts later?

secondly. im venting. i dislike the ALL the disadvantages from venting. but i do like the sound bov makes. is there any bov's being vented that sounds pretty badass. somethign for my taste. i heard the 1g bov's are kickass loud ...

my friend has a 99 galant w/ 180+ miles on it. he just had the motor replaced because the first one blew. the new motor has almost another 90+ miles on it. day after day, theres more and more problems with it. catalytic converter, air pressure in tires and a few more emission problems.

i told him plenty of times to get rid of it instead of wasting more and more money trying to get it to pass nj state inspection thats been over due for almost 6 months now.

i tried pulling out the light bulb for the check service engine light, but they failed the car because it didnt light up. do you guys think he should get a new/used car and get rid of the galant? or do you guys have a way to cheat the system and get him to pass?

yeah .... long story...

buying the turbo first is a waste with out the exhaust, fuel system etc to run it proper your risking engine damage. So the first question is a for sure yes get the supporting mods first turbo second. The next question is dumb you are losing performance due to runing rich because you choose to listen to the sound of the bov. Fix that problem then get the maft and vent proper if thats what you want to do. In the mean time your fouling plugs and risking damage to your converter from runing rich!

As already mentioned, if you want to vent the BOV, get a MAFt and do it right. Other than that, about all the bigger DSM vendors have upgrade paths on their sites. A big turbo won't do you any good without supporting mods. Here is a link to Road Race Engineering's upgrade path. RRE upgrade path

Recirculate, it is good enough to listen to the turbo spool up... This is not fast and the furious. Supporting mods first, major mods later...

Supporting mods are needed, you can't just slap on a bigger turbo and be good. research some more(thats always said) look for the tuners modify list(w/e its called) has stages for upgrading and is excellent upgrade path to follow.

only way YOU CAN vent is to run gm maf setup other than that your just another ricer, sounds cool, gets annoying though. recirculate the bov until you get the proper parts

Get your supporting mods first. That way you can work out any kinks before you start running serious boost with a bigger turbo.

Secondly go to autozone or advance auto and get sum flex radiator tubing and 2 hose clamps and recirculate your bov because your making your car run shitty and lose performance. If you want a loud bov try the HKS SSQV. Its very loud even recirculated and is one of the best out there IMO.

I'm a big fan of getting the most out of what you have in a turbo... building up all of your components around it (exhaust, intake, injectors, fuel management)... max the turbo out and then when you have the cash for the larger turbo, you only need to re-tune it. That'll be $0.02

When I bought my GST, the owner had it venting the Greddy Type-S bov. I asked if he had any problems with it stalling, running crappy, etc. He lied and told me "no". On my first test drive I discovered that when it stalled a few times on me. When I bought the car, he gave me the recirc tube which I gladly installed back on. I noticed almost no difference in the amount of noise with it still being plenty loud. It's definately not worth the trouble of venting to sound cool. Especially when you try to make a left had turn in a wide intersection and then you stall in on-coming traffic.OMG
