Idle Problem

Hello i just got a 1992 Eagle Talon AWD , auto, without turbo and when i start it up it goes to 2000 RPM then after it goes down to 1000 RPM. when i go for a drive and get to a stop light the car has a hard time shifting down because its at a high idle. also when i put it in neutral the RPM go up and down between 1200-1500 and will not go down to a low 700-800 RPM idle. Is there anything that i can do to fix this ?

How do you have a 92 AWD Talon thats not turbo?
Did someone just take off the turbo assembly and replace it with a non turbo setup?

I'm sorry its FWD. but today i have another problem it wont go into gear i put it in reverse or drive i cant move i can put gas but the car will only roll and wont click into gear and drive its like its stuck in neutral

any thoughts ?

check the trans pressure sounds like u need a rebuild, also your eratic idle sounds like an egr issue.
