So, my car was out of time and I re did the belt and thought I had everything right. Now I have this huge, strong vibration when revving and driving. I have only taken it for a short test drive. I searched and found threads about the balance shafts being out of phase but I didn't do anything to them. All I did was rotate the crank shaft to the TDC position on the timing belt cover. Is it possible for the balance shafts being out of phase if I didn't do anything to them? I have not done the screw driver test. Also, is the arrow on the oil pump sprocket the timing mark? Also, is the timing mark on the block 5 degrees BTDC? cause the car doesn't feel any more powerful after getting it timed right.

If you moved the crank with the timing belt off then yes, it's quite likely. If you had to move the crank because the timing was off then you really don't know where the lower balance shaft is unless you check it with the screwdriver or which way it falls per the VFAQ.

Yes, but the lower balance shaft is geared 2:1 so the oil pump timing marks can line up with the shaft in phase or out of phase. Without checking you don't know which.

No, all the marks on the block are at TDC. Only the marks on the plastic timing belt cover show anything other than TDC since it's used to set the CAS timing.

Thanks for the answers, I am going to tear it back down over the next few days and set everything right. My only concern is that with a 2g 7bolt, I don't have an adjustable CAS do I? If so, how is it adjustable? There is nothing in the VFAQ about it. So I assume I just put everything in line and at TDC and the timing should theoretically correct/advanced to 5 degrees BTDC right? Thanks -alice

I did the same thing a few years back. The oil pump sprocket roatated 180* and it vibrated like crazy. You dont need to adjust your timing with your cas, just need to get the timing marks lined up correctly.

Correct, you don't have any adjustment.
