Hey guys, I'm def. doing 1 of the two things this winter. I was thinking of completely redoing my 2.4L spyder and putting the DOHC on it along with the 16G turbo, or I can just buy the 2.0L Turbo engine and upgrade that. What do you guys think would be better and easier? Thanks:dsm:

Since you're asking for an opinion. . .:D

I wouldn't "cork up" a 2.4 w/ an evo3 16g. I'd keep the block and and add the DOHC head and put on a meatier turbo. Keeping the stock block would be cheaper and net more 'street fun'.

While the head is off I would reccomend some lower comp. pistons and forged rods... it would be best to pull the engine and get it rebuilt but if you cant I would then drop the oil pan, hone it, clean it like a mofo, and then install lower. comp. pistons. Then I would do the dohc and at least a 50 trim. my 50 trim 2.4 set up is like having a 16g on a 2.0 and I def. would not go any smaller.

Yea i def. planned on doing that since I'm pulling the engine out. What turbos do you guys suggest if not the 16G?

Again this is all opinion, but for the sake of affordability. . .

Compressor:
20G, 50-trim, 60-1 would be the most affordable. A 20G is bolt on. An FP green is a bolt on 50-trim. An FP red is a bolt on 60-1. PTE also makes bolt on 50-trims and such.

Turbine:
A td06H turbine w/ a 7cm^2 housing (for the 20G or the FP turbos) or a t3 stage 5 w/ a 0.63 a/r housing.

A set of stroker-based cams would be a nice addition. They'll cost as much as a used 2.0L that you were debating to get.

Definately keep the 2.4 and build it. Like said before get at least a 50 trim for the turbo. Good luck with the build. :thumb:
