Going rate for a turbo rebuild???

Just like the title says, im interested in the average price of a rebuilt turbo... A pte scm5031e in particular. I have a chance to buy one that is seized up for cheap and im wondering if its worth it over purchasing a new one.

Can anyone recommend any spot to rebuild in particular? should i just contact PTE? How much would it be to upgrade to ball bearing? Is this possible with the housings?

Any help/info is appreciated, i did a search but could not find these exact answers.

if the compressor wheel and turbine wheel are fine they are usually between $200-300

yeah, no bent fins, the guy said that it just doesnt spin. As long as im on the topic, what is a reasonable price to offer for a turbo in need of a rebuild, this particular turbo... a scm5031e.

around the amount of a rebuild usually ....I would say around $350

Ehhh my personally opinion is to save some more money and buy a new one...But I guess thats just me

I already know about FP, didnt know that they rebuilt PTE turbos or any turbo's taht they didnt make...

I too am more intersted in buying a new turbo, i keep going back and forth between the tried and true 50trim and the newer tech gt30r. However, if i can pick up this guys "paperweight" for 100-200 and rebuild it for 300-600, id still be paying less than a new 50trim or gt30r...
My natural dsm instincts are telling me to go the cheapo route! haha
