I just bought some JBL 6.5's and 6x9's. If I disconnect my 3.5 dash speakers will it give my JBL's more power? I understand the amp is like a 6-channel amp and if I dont use 2 channels it should give more power right?

A guy told me this is this correct? "Just use a 70-7001 METRA harness and plug it in behind the radio itself. You'll lose your upper dash speakers, but they're junk anyway."

I sent you a PM. But just for the sake for others who read this..

I don't think disconnecting the dash speakers will give you more power.

The stock amp is like a 4 channel amp, and the stock speaker setup is like a component set, but the xover is built into the stock amp and that is where it sends the specific frequencies to the door or the dash. So unplugging the dash speakers, won't do anything unless someone knows other wise, because the stock amp will still be outputting the highs to it.

If you use the standard aftermarket deck harness for 2gs, you automatically lose the amp and the dash speakers. The proprietary din cable, think of as the 4 channel rca wire and remote wire connecting to an aftermarket amp..

So once you use that harness and remove that proprietary din cable, the amp is no longer working, but it is still on unless you unplug the harness to the amp, because there lies the power and ground.
