Is the 99 GS exhaust the same as a 97 GST?

I just bought this 97 GST but the previous owner has a cheap Ebay muffler on it. I'd like to go back stock and have access to a 99 GS muffler.

I have the stock muffler with the stainless steel exhaust tips sitting in the backyard. PM me if you want to make a deal. Why not just upgrade? I'm sure you can find stock parts in car junk yards near you.

Factory pipes on a 2g GS/RS (2gnt) are 2.25" I believe, vs 2.5" for GS-T. The muffler on the GS does not flow as well, and has a single exit. The GS-T flows better and has two exits.

Otherwise, routing and hangers are identical. The rear section, or the entire cat-back, will bolt right up.

Don't put the gs muffler on, whatever the ebay muffler is, more than likely flows better than it.

Agreed. The GS rear section exhaust will choke the engine. It would be such a downgrade from the factory GS-T exhaust.
