Ok i just put my FIC 650s in and trying to do a basic tune with my AFC and logger

mods
EVO3
SSAC FMIC
walbro 190
stock FPR
Apexi AFCI
3' exhaust

Im trying to setup my fuel trims using road racing and vfaq guidelines

at 1000rpm my sht trim is at -15 and my lng trim is at 3 (which one do I need to make it 0?)

No matter how i adjust the AFC they dont change. I tried running through to 3000rpm and the same is happening. How long does it take for it to stay?

well i dunno about a 2g but i know on mine, i had to look at the intial trims with it zeroed out, take out a couple percent or add a couple percent and wait a day or two to see where the trims set at. just do it a little percentage at a time, wait a day or two, and check it again.

both need to be as close to zero as possible btw.

Get your Short Term Fuel Trim to 0 or as close as possible.

If your STFT is at -15 right now that means you are really rich and the ECU is removing 15% fuel. Take out 15% with the AFC and that should bring it back close, its all trial and error till you get each rpm point dialed in correctly.

Ok i really need help now.

here are my low settings

1000rpm -39% shrt trim=0 lng trim= -12
2000rpm -8% shrt trim= Oscillates between 0-17 lng trim=-12
30000rpm -8% shrt trim= Oscillates 1-14 lng trim= Oscillates 0- (-12)

what am I doing wrong, the car wont idle smooth unless i give it -35% or more

The car runs like crap from idle to around 3500rpm, with poping and shaking accerlation.

That is why people are told repeated time's you can't really use an SAFC to tune anything over 550cc injectors. If you are gonna spend the money get something worthwhile. And SAFC2 might help because you can adjust every 200rpm but still. I recommend DSMChips for this.

It sorta can. What model do you have. Do you have an AFC, SAFC or SAFC2. SAFC just doesn't have enough adjustment points to properly tune the car. At idle you should be pulling 38% for the compensation and from there you can tune with the datalogger.

theres people that say safc's can handle 720's ... i belive 650's is already a lot to take out for it.
i have 650's and a 10.5.1 chip and im taking out -15 at 1k
so yeah either get a chip or dsmlink

Keydriver. That way you know it's a good tune and you don't have to mess with anything.

650's is pushing it with an afc... I ran it for a while but it was a pain to tune. To much timing advance up top because i leaned it out so much. Went to a chip and it was way better.
