Bad carrier bearing?

So I jacked my car (95 eclipse GST, light mods) up today to replace my inner and outer tie rod on my passenger side and I decided to do some inspection since I was under the car. I've been having a pretty severe vibration issue coming from something in my drive line (I'm assuming). It's strictly when I'm accelerating. There isn't to much vibration when just cruising. A little bit, but I'm lowered, havent had an alignment and need tires bad (haven't gotten to them because I need to get my wheels powder coated and an alignment).

But anyways I also recently replaced my passenger side axle shaft because the boot had been torn for awhile and I didn't want to risk failure, as there was tons of road junk and stones and stuff in there. So as I'm under my car I grabbed the driver side axle, where it meets the transmission and there's a LOT of play in it. I grabbed the rest of the shaft and it doesn't seem to be TO bad. So I'm not sure it's something internally with the shaft. It also doesn't appear to be leaking.

I told my friend the symptoms and his first thought was a carrier bearing and I'm tempted to believe him. I was just wondering if any of you have had this done or done it yourself. My friend and I can pull the transmission, but if the diff has to be pulled like my friends suggests we can't do it and will probably take it to the mitsu dealership. Anyone know how much labor and parts and all that is? Also should I just pony up and replace the axle shaft and see if that fixes the problem? Or should I go all out and just plan on it being the bearing? Sorry if this has been covered I've been searching for 30 minutes and all I get are half completed threads with no conclusion. So rest assured if I find my problem this thread will be concluded! Thanks ahead of time!

so I clearly don't have a drive shaft... because I have a 2nd gen GST...

also. I'm probably going to replace the driver side cv shaft and hope that fixes it. Both sides seem to have the same amount of play. And neither side is leaking. I presume that if it were an axle bearing that when pulling the cv shaft out of the transmission there would be a pretty severe leak, unless my logic is wrong. I figure in order for a bearing to cause any sort of vibration it would have to move in and out as it spins... I could totally be wrong but I'm just blabbering. So I'm going to replace the driver side and see what that does, if that doesn't fix it I'm going to bet it's a misbalanced remanned cv shaft that I put on my passenger side. I guess we'll see. Suggestions and advice would be sweeeeeeetness.
