Fed up with internal gate...Is conversion to external wastegate worth it?

As of right now Im in a pickle. Im currently having problems with my internally wastegated FP Green. The problem is the wastegate is in a horrible bind causing it to stay open and bleed all of my boost off. I've tried bending the rod, didn't work. I've tried bending the flapper pivot and it blocked the wastegate from even opening causing me to overboost. So either way I go im screwed. It all started after putting on my DNP manifold (I still don't know how that would cause this). I'm contemplating converting to external wastegate by removing the flapper and actuator and welding on a tial wastegate to my o2 dump pipe. Is the conversion worth it or should I keep trying to fix the problem? Any advise will help. Thanks

Dustin

Wastegate off the O2 housing is very common and works great. I ran one for a few years and never had a problem with it. Some people suggest porting out the wastegate hole on the turbine housing so you allow the wastegate to flow as much as possible.

Not sure how installing a DNP manifold would bend a wastegate actuator arm. What is the arm binding on?

I suggest doing it off the o2 housing as well if you can't find why it's binding. If you can't, then maybe contact FP about it or just go external.

The arm is actually binding on the turbo housing itself. I can use an air compressor and open it up all the way and the flap will stay open. Im afraid of trying to bend the arm cause it could break the actuator.
You'll love the worry free boosting that comes with external and possibly the sound if you dump. You'll hate the price... I have a cheap way to make a dump tube if you get to that point.

I've had an external wastegate on my GS and it was care free. Im interested in the cheap way to make the dump tube

If your FP green goes together with a v-band in the middle, it's very possible that the comp cover rotated relative to the turbine housing causing the wastegate arm to bind on the turbine housing when actuated.
I'd recommend loosening the v-band and try rotating the comp cover a little and see if the binding issue is resolved.

***Edit, other than your wastegate issue, how do you like the internally gated FP Green? What boost are you running that beauty at?***

Yeah its held by the v-band, I'll try to rotate the cover to see if that helps. Other than this issue I've never had any problems with it. I'm running about 20psi on it. Im saving up for link before I run any higher.
