Hey guys new to the forum here, just bought a 96 eagle talon esi automatic.. Its all stock, with about 143k on the odometer and i was on the interstate yesterday, and my car got up to about 90 and then it wouldnt go any faster, i held the pedal to the ground and the rpms wouldnt even go up or anything it just stayed at 90. I dont know if this is a common problem but i swear i have searched almost everywhere on the internet and found nothing about this problem. Someone please help me out with a solution, it just seems kind of odd the governor would be set that low.. Thanks in advance for the help guys.. :talon:

Superhawk, I've never heard of a governor being set that low in ANY car. Are there any problem with the car that you know of besides this one? Any CELs or weird noises going on?

Let us know,
John

I'd be in the 'not enough power to go faster' camp. AFAIK, 2G limiter is around 120.
Remember, with an automatic you only have four gears, and with the NA plant you're a bit anemic on the power side to begin with. All I can suggest is to make sure the power/econo switch is in the Power setting, get your tranny fluid changed/tranny inspected, and do a full tune-up. Some new plugs/wires could help out, if the old ones are fouled, mis-gapped or cracked. Check your timing and make sure it's set correctly.

NAs are fun runabouts, and they share the looks of the turbo DSMs... but they're anything but speedy.

Thanks for the replies guys. I didnt think that there would be a limiter set at 90.. im gona try and get it all tuned up and check everything. I havent heard any weird noises and everything seems in check. If you guys have any other ideas fill me in please. Thanks for the replies guys

Did you have a compression check done? Besides its been pretty windy the past few days, were you driving into the wind. LOL
