Hi ppl i jus bought a 90 talon tsi awd. its mostly stock. it has a bunch of gauges.

for mods it has a 3 inch turbo back and an air cleaner. it does not have a boost controller
on the highway the boost goes to about 15 psi then will creep to 20 psi if ## really on it then it will start to fuel cut and shit. will a boost controller stop the boost from creeping higher ????

what mods should be done to compensate for the turbo back exhaust, do i need a fuel upgrade or something ?

whats wierd is the car takes off like a raped aped, but when on the highway under a load the clutch will slip and you can feel it catch. but it doesnt do it taking of....so this is the clutch wearing out right?

maybe your getting a boost leak? but if your still running stock injectors you dont need a fuel upgrade but are you still running a stock turbo? a aftermarket boost controller should be installed especially if you plan on upgrading the turbo,

Are you positive that it is the clutch slipping and grabbing and not your knock sensor retarding your timing due to having too much boost for your stock injectors to handle? Do you have a logger or any way to look at your IDC (Injector Duty Cycle)? I wouldn't recommend an eBay clutch kit if you find that it is indeed your clutch, the savings are not worth it, buy good the first time around.

Start with a mbc set at 15 pounds.

The creeping definitly sound like a boost leak possiable the J pipe were it meets the turbo I had a leak there and it was creeping. But double check all the connections for the factory boost controller if he had all after market stuff, IE turbo and or intercooler or piping he might not have tightened it all down and could have left some connectors off. Just double check the whole car and make sure all is correct.

your wastegate actuator may be getting stuck open. mine would do the same thing but when the car fully warmed up, in the engine bay, my wastegate actuator would heat soak and get stuck open. it would boost to 22psi for a short second before i flip out and let off the gas before fuel cut. check that possibly

yea stock turbo i believe. sure looks like it is.

HAS ANY ONE USED EBAY CLUTCHES ?

I use this one, so far its been awesome for the price. XTD Clutch For the first 200 miles or so, it would chatter upon takeoff, but now it hardly does it. Have to be careful though, its not a clutch that will let you slip alot, so it grabs hard and it will spin the tires on my GST no problem.

is the factory boost controller set up? if you are getting creep that bad the wastegate is not opening to route the exhaust around the turbo, thus "Creep". if the stock bc is connected something is wrong and the wastegate is not doing its job. try a mbc. if it still doesnt work, try hooking the wg straight to the boost source, this will default the WG to its stock spring setting. if that still doesnt work, your wg is getting stuck closed.

fuel cut will occur when the mas reads more air coming into the motor than it can handle, you likely have leaks. fix the leaks. boost leaks will not give him boost creep, all a leak does is make the turbo work harder to meed the desired level, and thus taking in double the amount of air, which the mas sees you bringing in all this air and goes "haha #### that" and bang, fuel cut. btw for the noobs, adding fuel pump or injectors will not get rid of fuel cut, the ecu doesnt know or care what pump or injectors you have until you tell the ecu by either a piggyback garbage system (safc) or straight up making the ecu your bi*** (dsmlink). do not hack the mas without proper compensation tools. moving to a maf in blow-through is a viable option, but fix the goddamn leaks first before adding more headaches.

allrite allrite, i found a couple vacuum lines, and one goes to a plastic plug with two nipple on it. One of the nipple does not have a vacuum line on it.

plus today was the first time i started the car up while it was cold and did not want to start. then it started and died. did that two times then i gave it alil gas and it bogged out. then it started up and idled higher then was fine....

that CAN looking object on the side of the turbo has a metal rod coming out of that (diaphram thing), is that suppose to move freely..? because mine will not budge.

That CAN is your wastegate actuator... it will not move very easily, without vacuum or presure that is... the actuator limits the amount of boost the turbo lets into the engine

another possiblity is if the wg is workin fin u could try porting your o2 housing. with the bigger exhaust you are allowing your turbo to breath alot better, hence y u say it launches liked a raped ape casue the turbo is spooling alot faster. thus your flowing more air that the o2 houswing can handle. i had a buddy that had a 91 talon with the same porb, he would be crusing along just fine and all of a sudden the boost would creep to like 23 and he would start getting fuel cut. so we took the o2 housing and ported it and it solved hi problem. just another idea to look into:thumb:

c4uldron------yea im pretty sure somethign is slipping, becuase im doin 70 down the highway, at like 3 grandish, get into it and it revs to 4 then goes down to 35ish and accelerates, it felt like auto matic tranny slippin. i just thought it was weird seein its fine takin off from start and rippin through the first couple of gears.

i dont have that many vaccum lines from the turbo. i have one from the waste gate directly to the intercooler pipe. Thats about it. and one from the air cleaner to alittle electric plug and it ends.

plus the radiator fans are always on....??????
