I get no constant power to my radio. All my presets reset, etc. You know the drill. It did this with my stock radio after I had it out to try to fix it. I got a new radio, for other reasons, and it does the same thing. Is there a fuse that I blew while working on it w/ the old radio.

I'm pretty sure I wired the new radio right.
Blue is constant battery power.
Red is accessory. Is that right, or backwards?
That's how its wired and works when I turn the key to accessory.

Just based on what you said, I'm pretty sure you wired the new radio wrong, no offense..

Red is constant 12v, blue is accessory.

I don't know why you would wire to the accessory wire.

Most if not all wiring for aftermarket radio goes as follow:

red: 12volt ignition (switched)
black: ground
yellow: 12volt memory

those really are the main 3 you deal with.

Your wiring might be all out of wack, I would investigate it.

Do you have an adapter?
if you do, all the color of the wires should match the player and the adapter. After that just plug it in in your radio harness. Dont forget about the ground the black wire. make sure its connected to a metal frame.

Check your fuse box if it still dont work.

I don't have the adaptor. I'll switch the constant and accessory wires. and see if that works, the speakers are all wired up good, so thats no problem. The reason I connected the Blue (original color) as battery is the new harness (aftermarket) has constant as a bigger gauge wire, and the Blue was a bigger guage. And vice versa, the accessory was thinner gauge. I'll check it out and report back.
Thank You!

also, check your ground to make sure its tight. I'm thinking that you reversed those wires like said above. Red should be the "hot" wire.

I had the same problem as you when i installed my aftermarket deck. The only power wire that was visible was the blue one which is ignition switched so i had no constant going to my deck. I tried to find the constant but i couldnt. My stock deck was the "premium" that came with the car and it included an amp and cd changer. I dont know how they wired it up but there was no constant in the wire harness. I checked with a multimeter too and only the blue wire gave me voltage.

I got tired of looking so i just T'd a constant to my subwoofer's amplifier power wire. Works great.

FYI, I figured it out. The Blue was the accessory wire. Thanx for that info. I switched the accessory and battery lines and it works flawlessly. I SHOULD have got the wiring kit, but figured it out. It was 50x harder, bug I got it. Thank you!!

Yea, once you get good at this stuff, especially if you are using external amps, buying the wiring harness is a waste of money. If you are going to use the aftermarket deck to power the speaks, the harness is worth it.

umm, just depends on what you're comfortable with. Harness or no harness. I find that if I want to switch from an alpine to kenwood, all I have to do is change the harness. Its either that or, resplice every wire and each time they're getting shorter each time I splice.

Plus, its nice that the baggy the harness comes in (vehicle specific) comes with color pinouts of each wire.
