I'm looking for an upgrade from my ported 14b. An not sure which one to get.The PTE is used but rebuilt after his motor blew up? The kid said ( denso 660 , 3inch exhaust , and all the stuff with a SAFC when i ran 24psi and 398WHP.)?? Possiable? Stock internals. The EVO III is also used but cheaper. I have 560 EVO injectors, 225 wally, full 3inch exhaust, Bullseye huge sidemount IC, and Injen intake. I want a daily driver and do not wish to open the motor and do head studs. The motor has 23,000 miles after it was replaced by previous owner. Thanx for any input.:thumb:

I think the Evo III 16G would be perfect for you right now. Those turbo's can produce way over 300awhp which is definetly respectable. Also, with the fuel mods you have now, you wont have to mess with changing out your injectors, since 560's would be a little small for a 50 trim. Also, that sidemount may not be able to cool off the air of a 50 trim at higher boost levels, I think the E316G would take to that smic a lot better. Plus...youll save a few hundred bucks and then you use that money towards something else. All in all, your pretty much ready for an E316G, while a 50-trim would take a little bit more work. What are you using to tune with...SAFC? DSMlink? Also you might want to add a AFPR for that 255 pump.

my vote: E316G

x2.

You can get VERY respectable numbers from an Evo3 and you're practically setup to do that already.

I would go Evo III just be sure its a true Evo III. You will have to put a few buck into making it hook up to the car but it will still be less work than a 50 trim. With either turbo you may start to have issues with the SMIC if you turn up the boost. You say this is a daily driver so you might be fine, but if you intend on taking it to the track every once and a while you may want to look into water injection to keep it from knocking under high boost/ abuse.

Definately go with the 16g. You will be pleased with how much fun the power they make can be.

Just because they say the IC is good for 400hp, doesn't mean it will happen in the real world ;) I ran the HRC SMIC for abit with the evoIII & the max on that setup was about 18 psi, which was probably more like low 300 crank hp. After that you start getting knock in 3rd & 4th on a pull. Defently better then the stocker but with SMIC's you can't make the frontal surface area much larger as the space is confined & there is only so much air you can get to go through there. People say the SMIC won't support a 50 trim but something to consider is when starting to run more boost, the 50 trim will produce a cooler charge then the evoIII so depending on the level you plan to run the 50 trim may be easier on the SMIC. Now granted if you plan to run 22psi+ on the 50 trim, there no way your IC will keep up, but if you keep it down around 18psi, I think the 50 trim may be easier on your IC.

With that said its a toss up, what are your goals? Yes the evoIII will be a nice bump in power but like most you'll probably want more after some time. When I bought the evoIII I thought it would be the biggest I'd ever want to go. I ran it for 2 summers & wanted something bigger. If you don't want to upgrade your injectors its probably best to stick to the evoIII as some even max out that size of injector with it. Personally I'd go 50 trim but my goals & opinion may differ from yours.

I'm not looking to make crazy power maybe 300whp or so. I have spent a lot of coin on modding cars and don't want start changing everthing under the sun so I will probally stay with the EVO III. OH has anybody heard about the XTD stage 4 clutch and flywheel kits. ON ebay. Not the XTR but the XTD. Sorry for the change in the tread but just say these. Thank you guys.

With 300whp, I doubt you would even need a stage 3. My friend has a Spec stage 2 with a 2100lb pressure plate, and even that isn't that much fun for a DD. A stage 2 would probably be fine for what you want, but a stage 3 would be absolutely safe.

EVO 3 16g all the way. If you only want 300whp it will get you there fine, and save some on spool up time.

Don't go above a stage 2 on a clutch. This is definately one area where you can over do it. I have a spec stage 3 in my nissan and I hate it during dd.

I was in the exact same situation as you (pretty similar anyway)... I went with the EIII 16g.

Yea the EVO III is my choice and for the clutch the only reason is the stage 2 says it would hold just shy of 300hp and I want to be safe the last thing I want is to put in the stage 2 and rip it to shreads by making 300whp( ie 340 crank or so) the stage three will hold 380hp. I would rather be safe than sorry. Anything would be easier to drive than the 2900lbs ACT I had in my EVO8, As a dd that clutch killed me the pedal was super stiff and grabbed fast.

OK paid for the Evo III just whating for it to come now I got to sell my ported 14b.. Thank you guys.
