cv boot tearing after lowering car

Does anyone know of a way to keep the cv boots from tearing after lowering the car?

They should only tear on the inner CVs if it is due to lowering and only because they got old. Replace them and they should last quite a while. Do you keep busting them or something?

Its my friends car...but yeah. He put new boots on when he lowered it and it tore right away.

I have new axles up front and my car is lowered and I haven't had any problem. Get some new axles from advance with a lifetime warranty and keep changing them out til you figure out the problem

How much drop? what size wheels and tires?

Tein springs with agx struts. Thinks its lowered 1.3 inches. Running 17" rims with 225/45/17 tires.

Almost the exact same setup I run and I have never had any problems. I would say get his car on an alignment rack. His SAI is probably all screwed up and the boot is hitting when he turns one way or the other.

My inner CVs tore after 1 month of a new eibach prokit, tokico illumina, RRE camber kit install...1.3" drop. Alignment done by laser and all within factory specs. These cars are often a decade old and the added stress of lowering can do those worn CVs in. Mine were the ones from the factory in 1996 and they finally tore.

There should be no reason that the combination your friend is running would cause them to rip. It has got to be that they are old, cheap, or improperly installed.

They were new boots but he is going to check the alignment and put some new ones on tonight and see what happens.
