My 1g has a walboro 255 fuel pump in it which I think is a bit of an overkill for the other mods (small 16g and the basic stuff). I dont have a fuel pressure regulator and I'm thinking about getting a 190 fuel pump instead of buying the regulator since it is more expensive. what do you guys think? what power levels can a 190 supply fo? will i need a regulator anyway?

thanks alot. matt

If your asking what power levels the 190 will support than your already thinking about upgrading. Someone has done some of the work for you and already put a fuel pump in that will handle pretty much all bolt on upgrades. Why not just get the FPR and then you can upgrade whatever you want with confidence that you have enough fuel...at least from the tank to the rail that is....

So essentially, you're looking to downgrade from the upgraded FP you already have in place. Matt, instead of going thorough that hassle, look through this vendor's site and pick out an AFPR you like or that is affordable to your wallet. Depending on what AFPR you're looking at, it will only cost you about 50-100 bucks more than buying a new Walbro 190. Just suck it up and get one. Quit dinkering around and buy one.

Why do I say this? Because you're making more work for yourself than needs be. As it has been argued before, no matter what upgraded FP you install (or already have installed, in your case), the OEM FPR isn't terrific (I am including the 1G's FPR here). You've already got a well established FP installed; just go the little extra mile and pick up a proven AFPR kit. It's really as simple as that.

As stated above;

You're going to spend an extra $10-50, and go through a difficult installation procedure so you can downgrade your fuel pump? Sounds like a great idea to me... ;)

Get a little fuel pressure gauge to go with your new AFPR, it's worth it!

I don't think your going to find one person that would recomend downgrading your FP. Just get an AFPR. It will pay off in the long run.

OK thanks alot guys. I've been working on getting the FPR for like 2 months and everytime I get ready to buy a more urgent problem comes up. Starting to really piss me off. My valve cover is now covered in oil after a 2 minute drive even after replacing the valve cover gasket and fuel cap. arg

  1. Check the torque specs. 2.2 lbs for those outside valve cover bolts.
  2. Use some RTV sealant (only the Ultra stuff) on the gasket.
  3. Make sure you installed the "half moon" valve cover seal. If not, you can see one here buy it here.
  4. Don't just replace the oil cap seal - try putting two seals on instead. See more OEM-related products here.
