i've got a 90 talon non-turbo and it will idle fine in park and neutral but, it drops idle really low and acts like it wants to stall when i put it into drive or reverse... How do i fix or find out what the problem is with the idle problem??

yeah my car has been like that for a while now. in park its fine, but up it into gear and... no good. usually it drops to a touch over 500 rpms and it has stalled on me a few times. it also feels like its misfiring at the low idle too.

Both of us?

In my case this does sound possible. I don't know if this is related to the converter or not, but when I'm getting up to speed it usually won't shift into 4th until I'm going exactly 45mph. Another thing that it's been doing is that it doesn't like to go into look-up unless its a really warm day, or I've been driving around alot that day. Oh... almost forgot the most annoying thing, when I'm coasting down a hill and gaining speed (going anywhere from 10 to 70 mph) it will shift into 3rd. This is EXTREMELY frustrating to put it mildly.

p.s. lately it hasn't really been getting low enough to stall though.
