I havent been Driving my Talon Tsi ### it has been in the broken stages of its life. But I was looking at it last night and The rear Springs are completly Compressed. There is no Gap inbetween them. I have the stock Struts on The car still. The fronts are fine...plenty of room inbetween each level of the spring. Are my Rear Struts bad? If they are I do not want to spend a ton of Money on AGX's and I'm not worried about adjusting them. What would you recommend?

If you want it back to stock specs, just get OEM replacement stuff. If you want a little better than OEM go with the KYB GR-2s they can be found for about 150 a set. I have some stock AWD aprings if you need them

Well I dont think the springs can be bad ### they are under 10,000 miles not sure exactly ### i didnt put them on. but the struts are stock. and the car has almost 180,xxx on it.

no I dont want OEM...I like the way it sites but i dont know why the springs would be completely compressed. I'm thinking the struts are bad.

Uh... the springs bear the load of the car. The struts just mitigate the movement of the car, they don't really support too much weight. A car with blown struts will just be stupidly bouncy. Try bouncing that corner of the car... it should stop completely within 3-5 bounces when you let go. If it just keeps going, then yeah, blown strut.

well fellow, yes your springs are shot and chances are if your springs are shot your struts are to my friend, those pics show me that if you have after market springs either they were ish metal or they are for the wrong car.

You may be able to save the strurs if the cylinder has not developed rust from sitting but in reality, its your suspension bro,( very important ) just change them my friend. put the stocks back on or buy all new 4 at a time aftermarket,

when you put one set of springs on, they are designed for a different load so there for when you stop and the car back end flings up its going to put more pressure on your front wich results in more dive, after the dive and they come back up. guess what all that load goes to the back which they are not designed for flinging and that could be the whole reason your rears are shot, they took on to much load from the front flinging back

Just a suggestion, but Megan Racing is selling a set of 1G coilovers for $850, FWD or AWD last I looked. Replaces both the strut and spring at the same time, as well as the mount. From what I've seen and heard from a GS-T owner who tossed them on, they're also worth the cost in handling and ride. Stiffer than stock, but LOADS better than the KYB AGX/performance spring combo a lot of 1Gers are running.

Thanks, Im not sure if they were just junk metal or what but they are eibach sportline springs. This pretty much sucks. Is it possible to just buy the rear springs or do I have to buy all four? The front ones are fine as you can see from the picture. I guess I'll just try to find a good used set already put together. I dont want to buy coilerovers ### in my opinion they are junk. So I'll probably just make a set of coilovers with Eibach springs and KYB struts. Thanks

Yes, you have to buy all four. If the rears are that toast, especially with Eibachs, the fronts can't be in much better condition anyway.

Er... and you don't 'make' a set of coilovers. You just replace the springs and struts with the replacement performance parts. I do have to warn you, I'm on a similar setup (though with B+G springs instead) and the ride quality sucks horribly. Which is just one reason why the actual coilovers are such a step up.

yes you can buy 1,2,3 as many springs as you want. Im not sure on the part number of the rear springs but i know the front springs are only 37 bucs a piece from and rear are

Coil spring, eclipse, 2wd, w/o convertible 95-99 $47.02
From http://www.discountmitsubishiparts.com/

So you should be able to find some OEM replacements from autozone or advanced if you dont want to wait for shipping

And please be careful my friend, use a spring compressor you can rent them from autozone for free with a refunable deposit of 30 bucs.

Springs CAN kill you

I know what I meant and so do you. My ride doesnt suck too bad. its actually not bad at all for having compressed rears. Coilovers ride like crap. Ive been in my friends 96 eclipse and its absolutly terrible.

My friend has a 92 awd hes parting out. Can I get the suspension off that and put it on my car?

Well This is what My back right spring looks like with the tire off and being jacked up by the crossmember that is right below the rear axel. I dont understand why the top part of it is compressed but the bottom is open. Please shed some light. Thanks

Just a thought did you know that the Sportlines for our cars come in to different versions.
One set for FWD and one for AWD with the AWD set having the higher springrate due to added wieght of AWD system. Sportlines are progressive rate springs and that is the way they compress. You just might have the wrong spring for your application AWD vs FWD.
