Which Tranny?

I have a 97 gsx and i was wondering which tranny is stronger the 1g or 2g tranny? Also would I be better off just rebuilding my old tranny or to buy a new one?

Just rebuild your old one. Buying a new tranny will be pretty expensive.

Ya, everyone would like a new one, but when its more then half the price to get it rebuilt, thats what most do. I recomend shep stage 2. You look at all you get for that much money and its pretty amazing. sheptrans.com

It would be alot of work putting a 1g tranny in a 2g. But you can use the gears and stuff out of a 1g to rebuild yours from what ive read. And i think the 1g are a little stronger but dont hold me to that.

I recomend just going to a junk yard and pulling out a tranny, if you look at the info on hahns site you will see that the trannys in the 2g can take one HELL of a beating without anything but a better clutch

Seams to be that BOTH 1G and 2G trannies become more like "glass" after the 450ft-lb range. Do you plan on having more than 450 ft-lbs of torque at any given moment in the future?
