Hey guys, I was wondering what kind of shocks/struts I should get. I just purchased a set of lowering springs (Tein S-Tech w/ 1.5" drop). Also what else should be bought and how much am I looking at as far as $$ goes. Thanks alot:thumb:
:dsm:

I would reccomend a camber kit... Negative camber = wicked tire wear. Up to you though, in the long run it ill save you some money, but then again you aren't slammed that low.

1.5" drop shouldnt affect much but it is a good idea to replace the struts while you are in there. It would also be a good idea to install front and rear camber kits.

Would it matter that I have 18's on the car? This is the main reason, I want the car to sit nice w.o loosing ride quality or handling.

+1^^^

*EDIT: that was in response to... Cs4g63's remark: "1.5" drop shouldnt affect much but it is a good idea to replace the struts while you are in there. It would also be a good idea to install front and rear camber kits."*

You beat me... And 18's shouldn't be a problem, what is the width though?

My cousin ran 19s on his 99 and the only problem, other than alignment issues, was having to clearance the lip on the inside of the quarter panels.

What type of struts should I be looking to buy then and whats a decent brand of camber kits or doesnt it matter? Sorry bout all the questions I just want to make sure its done right.

id go with Tein H-Techs and Tokico 5-Way adjustables for a awesome yet still comfortable ride. i had that in my 97 gst spyder and loved it. they only give you a 1-1.25" drop if i recall and you dont need a camber kit for that small of a drop, not until 1.5"+ do you need to compensate.

I'd do the homebrew kit for the rear if you have any hope of staying within factory specs...

...as My car had -1.5* of camber in the rear with stock suspension. You can get away without a kit for the front. However, a nice bonus to having a front kit is you can set the camber equal on both sides.

Camber doesnt kill tires. Toe does. Once you lower the car with new springs AND shocks and rear camber kit, Go get an alignment! Try to aim for zero toe.

i have a 99 spyder GST.... i called eibach and they do not offer a lowering spring for my car! i know the spring willl fit from a GSX or gst coupe.... but they clam the rear of the car will set a 1" lower in the rear then they are suppose to!!!! so i will have 1.3 drop in front and a 2.5 drop in back.... any ideas? looking to spend no more then $700 or $800 total..... for springs and struts or coil over? let me know brands that are good and that will fit a 99 spyder GST..... thanks

GSX springs will work well and will not sag as much. Go with those and w/e strut you want. If your willing to spend 700-800 get a set of coilovers. I got my Ksports for 699 shipped last christmas

Coilovers are fully adjustable. I have the Ksport coilovers dropped about 1.5" no rubbing with 235/45/17s

Also get you some sway bar bushings up graded

I swear I already replied to this topic.. but here goes anyways.

Why KYB's? I can't think of a reason to "upgrade" to GR-2s nor can I get excited about AGX's.

Agreed, and you probably have...I made this thread in 2007 LOL not to metion the million other lowering/ride height threads :p
