Ok, lets start this, I dont want to hear PB, or liquid wrench, going on a week using them. Lets not talk about impact wrench or heating, cause i've used both. Breakerbar, sure thing, I actually broke two of them off already. So here it is.

I need to get this damn rusty POS thing off of my car. I've torqued so hard at it I made the tire spin with my wife pushing on the breaks and blocks in. I'm working on over $40.00 worth of blaster, and tools wasted not to mention the Mapp gas. Anyone have any suggestions?

Being you have tried all the above it's time for my FAVORITE tool... & it always wins - My Makita Angle Grinder with a Cutting wheel on it - Just cut the damn Nut at a Angle - If you don't have one trust me you'll love it - & YES I too have been thru the pure hell you are going thru - Split my cheap Socket - Bought the High Dollar Impact Socket - THEN sheared the 3/4 Lug off my damn nice Impact, let's just say I was REALLY, REALLY ticked off...

Also - VERY important - I'm sure you know that with all the Heat & all the Framming you need to renew the Wheel Bearing Seals & maybe the entire Bearing - & on an AWD always check out the Intermediate Steady Bearing too during this job & then you may as well renew the Seals at the Transfer Case while you have the Shafts out... Good Luck

Man I just want to say if the nut is that bad your axle is probably seized in the hub and that my friend sucks just as bad as what your going through.

Map gas doesnt get quite hot enough if its stuck that bad. You need a oxy/actelyne (sp?) torch to heat that nut up.
I second this notion.

Oxy/acetylene worked great for me after trying and failing with all other options.

Other options including splitting the nut or cutting it clean off like Buck had mentioned.

Just out of curiosity what type of impact wrench are you using and what size air compressor?

Honestly I dont know the make of the gun.. It's not exactly a "compresser". I'm in the army so it was at our "auto crafts center" which i think has a 300 gal in the back, pusing 30psi.

It's almost off, Dremmel with a cutting blade is all it takes. Should have it off after work...

So quick question, anyone remember the size of that bolt, I'm gonna need another one, and I'd like to stop on my way home, and can't think off the top of my head.

That bolt? Thats the end of the axle that you cut off. You'll now need to replace the axle.

no, I think she'll give without having to go all the way through, just weaked it enough it falls off with the crack of a hammer. Half of it isn't on there, just to get the rest... Just have to be careful not to mess up those threads

not to bust your balls or anything, but really with 30 psi u should not exspect to budge an axle nut. infact last night i just changed left fron hub, and i had my air compressor up to 125psi and that damn nut took forever to budge. its great that u got it off casue they are a pain in the ass. just for future reference u might need some more air preesure:thumb:

Oh by no means, No ball busting at all man. It's beyond my control. And 30PSI is just a guess.

The air system runs throughout the building, with lines dropped down at each work bay. It's on a flapper switch, No PSI readout, It's all their tools as well. I just pay whatever, like 3 bucks an hour to work in there. It is a PITA but, I dont have my own air compresser, Pnumatic tools, or a lot of other things.

So that sucked.... Umm anyone got a 1g front driverside axle :( hub too?

If you have not beat on it too too bad, take off the control arm and everything and stand it upright and spray that PB blaster in there and let it sit standing up all night for the stuff to get down in there then take it to a local machine shop and have em put it on a press...although mine sat on a press at like 60 tons for 3 days and didnt budge, your could be different but in anycase COAT it with anti sieze when you put the new or used stuff back on and also do your brake rotor...stuff works. :thumb:

Yeah, Had to order the new axle tonight. Everything down in my suspension area is rusted way more then it should be.

I found a salvage yard with Three 1g DSM's and i'm gonna go have a look tomorrow and see what I can scrape up cheap, and what I'll have to order new.

I have to replace a lot of it, on all tire sides, or I'll just have to deal with this again later.

30 psi is pretty weak to break that nut. I had to use 100+ last time, and that was after i jambed the hub with a prybar and pryed so hard my car was coming off of the jack stands :D . Good Luck!

See, I forgot to mention besides the psi trying to break it, I had a 6 foot fence pole on the end of a breaker bar with two guys hanging from it. BTW: Thats a really good way to go through 40 dollars of breaker bars.
