Anyone know where I can purchase a fan switch and fittings so I can make a fan on my external oil cooler to come on at a certain temperature?

What temp you think would be a good temp to have them turn on?

For those people that have oil temp gauges, just curious how long it takes for your oil to come to operating temps at idle? (you have air or coolant cooler?)

The factory coolant cooler will not only bring oil up to temp faster, but it will keep it more stable than an air cooler will.
Summit or any online racer shop will carry a heat sensor you can use for a fan trigger. I'd want the oil to be around 190°F.

Yeah, I'm bumping this because I have an idea and a question that's similar and I SEARCHED!

Would it be a bad idea to simply wire the oil cooler fan to the radiator fan? It'll kick on around 200* (the oil cooler thermostat is full open at 180). This should keep the oil no hotter than 200* and no cooler than 160*.

Not necessarily. That will keep the oil cool only when the coolant reaches 200 degrees. Your oil could be running too hot going down the highway and not kick on because the radiator is getting plenty of air flow and the fans are not needed.

But..then why wouldn't the oil cooler be getting plenty of airflow as well?

I know bumping is frowned upon and whatnot, but there's not much more I can add to this other than seeing if anyone else has any input..

Autozone carries the fan relay with thermostat kit for about 80 dollars I believe. It turns on at 185 and off at 175 though.
