1g temp sensor

I am still wrenching on my car. Today I broke the top temp sensor on the T-stat. There are like 4 sensors on my 1g housing I need to know what to call that one when I go to napa tomorrow to get a new one. Also what does that sensor doo? I know the 1 wire one is for the gauge and the bottom t wire one is for the ECU and your car will not start if you dont have it. What does the top one do?

That's the A/C thermometer. Watches to make sure the radiator isn't getting too hot, and will turn the A/C off if the car starts to overheat. Mine had one of the wires snap off, and since my A/C doesn't work, I haven't bothered fixing it yet.

Four sensors? There should be only 3: Coolant guage, ECT, AC coolant temp switch.

Thermo valve -> EGR. This is why I asked if this was what selmerguy meant by "t wire".

Not unless you have A/C and it starts to overheat. Then you just turn the A/C off manually. A number of people who have uninstalled their A/C just take that thermosensor out and block the hole off with a bolt, and leave the plug dangling or taped up.

oldman, I'm pretty sure the 't wire' was a typo, and he had meant to say 'two wire'. The single wire sensor is for the gauge cluster temp gauge, and the two-wire sensor on the bottom is for the ECU.
