GM MAF+ MAFT-do I need an AFC?

I was thinking of buying a GM MAF and MAFT, and I've heard in several places that, should I do the conversion, I would need some type of fuel control such as an SAFC. Is this true or would I be able to just run the MAF and MAFT without the fuel control until I can afford the unit? Or would the fuel curves and such be way off by not having anything to adjust the fuel?:dsm:
 
Could you elaborate on the piggyback function of it?
 
Check there website....http://www.maftpro.com/index.shtml ....basically you have the same amount of control, you just can't fine tune it as much as you could with an AFC. I belive the maf-t goes in steps of 5% increments and the AFC you can go by 1% increments. Also when using a piggy back system don't get injectors over 650cc. the maf-t and the AFC won't be able to compensate for the bigger injectors past 650.
 
what about using 950 injectors with ecu chip for 650 and tuning with the maf pro


And how much better is the maf pro with tuning from the maft
 
just adding in a quick question, if you have minimal mods and go gm maf and mafT would you need much tuning to be done? would it affect the way the car runs. my stock maf is craping out and i don't want to run a safc by getting a 2g mas
 
You will need to retune even with a stock system. It should run with everything zeroed out, but it is a pretty major change to the system and the base numbers are not 100% accurate in the real world. Don't be afraid of a little tuning though. Just be sure to use a logger and spend wome time with it. You'll probably notice some good gains just with a tune on the stock setup.
 
No I would not do that. If you want to run 950's you will need to have that eprom reburned or get dsmlink.

I fhis ecu eprom is burned for 650s as he's stated, then the deadtime issues and high timing issues are not very significant at all.

Fuel calibration/offset formula:

( stock cc / new cc ) - 1 = offset (a negative number)

I the case where a chip has been burned for 650cc injectors your STOCK CC is 650 cc. Of course the new cc = 950 cc

It should do fine. Ironically, you'll have to tune your MAFT for around 650 cc injectors.
