Just a heads up to all fellow dsm'er out there regarding a fake Evo III GT turbo and a Real Evo III GT turbo.

A product is being sold here on tuners by member here states that it's the real Evo 3 GT turbo by turbochargers.

The real Evo 3 GT turbo is only sold by www.turbochargers.com and does not have a adjustable wastegate actuator and has Evo III GT etched/engraved on the compressor housing.

The turbo he claims to be a real Evo 3 GT is the knock off version sold on ebay. It has an adjustable wastegate actuator and does not have the Evo III GT on the compressor housing.

i have the real Evo 3 GT turbo is only sold by www.turbochargers.com, and have put around 15k miles on it and havnt had one problem! I run 15 psi daily and when i go to the track i run around 25-30 psi no problems. I highly reccomend this turbo no matter what anyone says its done good for me. PLus they have a nice warrany, so if it does decide to take a poop on you your coverd.

True the gt from turbochargers may be a knock off, but it does nto change the fact that it is built with quality parts, and time was put into its development unliek the ebay crap. Most importantly the tc.com gt has really begun to proove itself. I have one 7k miles and still as nice as the day i bought it. Also just as a side not they made 412 or 414 whp on that thing. Which should be damn near impossible in my opnion.

Interesting, I emailed a guy who posted for sale a brand new tc.com Evo3 16g GT asking for more pics. Sure enough, there was an adjustable wastegate actuator. Also noticed on the compressor housing the lack of engraving/etching. Nice...:coy:

EVO3 GT is a great turbo. I have one proto type for about 1.5 years. I run 18psi daily with no problem. The real EVO3 GT is made in TAIWAN. The one on the ebay is made in CHINA. I am running a EVO3 GT 20G version now. It's got TD06L2 wheels both intake and exhaust side. I am running 18 psi now. It feels stronger at high rpm. I can beat my friend who had EVO3 16g GT with 20 psi easily.

I still don't see why anyone would want to buy ant EVO turbo besides the actual MHI product. How are they delivering more value overall? I've had my Genuine (Actual Mitsubishi) MHI EVO3 16G for about 30K miles now, no prob..

Don't have to port it to help eliminate creep?

Okay, I'm not knocking the evo GT turbo in any way as I don't have personal experience with it but can you really go as far to say "& time was put into its development unlike the Ebay crap"? How much time & development can you put into an almost 100% kncok off of a turbo thats aready out there? So they took the time to make a mold that has the larger flapper mod & porting already built in to the turbine housing, I wouldn't exactly call that alot of research & development.

Just curious who made over 400 whp on the GT turbo? I've seen info on the true MHI evoIII doing so on more then one account, but haven't come across that info on the GT. Would be interesting if you have the link?

The Ebay knock off of a knock off has been around for a good amount of time now, there are a good amount of other threads talking about this turbo.

Too bad it's already been sold! I feel bad for the buyer that had paid well over $300 for it!!! Can't remember the actual price it was sold for, but it was way above 3 bill. If the buyer wanted the extra goodies, $400 something dollars!

The buyer could of actually purchased it for less if had at least taken the time to do a search here on tuners or read up on the latest post.

If your a NEWB! Please make sure to do a search first or ask a friendly Wiseman for their opinion.

Ebay price w/ all necessary water lines - $276.99

Here's the funny part! The sellers description stated that it was the real evo 3 gt turbo purchased from www.turbochargers.com

I sent the seller a personal message to inform him that it's not made by turbochargers.

My PM:

Just a heads up...

"Please get your facts straight because one of the turbo is not a Evo III GT turbo. This is the Knock off version of the REAL Evo III GT.

The real evo gt is proven and can be found on this site

www.turbochargers.com

Evo III GT is etch on the compressor housing."

Sellers response:

"sold but anyway... can you give me a direct link I cant find it..."

WTF WTF WTF

You guys that say its a peice or knockoff obviously have never owned one. I got mine from road race and they said they have told at least 200 of them and havnt had a one come back, becuase of in not being up to standards. It is just as a quality piece as a evo 3 MHI in MY OPINION. I have also ran anti-lag many times with this turbo, and if you didnt know anti lag is very hard on your turbo.I have 15k miles of 15-30 psi and no shaft play whats so ever! But yes the price for the GT is about the same price as the MHI evo 3, so its all personal prefrence.

What does the quality have to do with whether it's a knock off? It just makes it a quality knock off.

Ya your right, heres the definition of Knockoff
An unauthorized copy or imitation, as of designer clothing: "the place to go for quality knockoffs" (Women's Wear Daily).
So in other words a knockoff could be just as good or better than the thing they are trying to copy. But most times thats not the case.

I would hope so, it's only got 7k miles on it. My T25's got 80k on it, and it still spools and bucks like a bi***, and has virtually no shaft play on it either.
