Ok i baught a polished heat shield from extreme psi. Im moving into a 50 trim turbo. So would this heat shield still work with a 50 trim on.

Also i have a turbo question. I like the v-trim but im looking for 400+ hp for a dyno run or so on. Can this turbo really accomplish it? It says it can but we all know how sellers hipe up some stuff. If this isnt the turbo for me then what 50 trim do you guy recomend for under 1000 or 900.

Now my 1g mani cracked and my bro did his best to weld it back together. As you can see in this pic it still has a small crack. Should i go ahead and use it the way it is or find another junkyard one.

Now a similar problem with my 14b. I will be running this turbo to break in my engine once its done being built. Then switch to the 50 trim. Now can these cracks be ported out or is this turbo junk now. Once again pics to show.

I have 2 o2 housings. One from a 1g and another from a 2g. What one would be better to use. Also why is the o2 sensor plugs in dif places.

Finally i think my water pipe is too dirty and would really make the engine bay shine with a new one. Where can i get one and also. How can i clean off all that gunk on the rest of the stuff in these pics. My tranny looks like hell. Alt. is ok but the rest of the pipes are nasty.

Sorry for the long post but this stuff is bugging me.

If you don't consider that turbo junk yet, you never will. If that hasn't shat the bed yet, it will very soon. I wouldn't even put that on temporarily.

Regarding your cracked 1G manifold - there's no telling when it will crack again (it's not a matter of "if"). Stop effing around and get a new Evo III mani. 1G manifolds are old and are very suseptable to cracking. Plus they have small runners. Or try and find a used Evo III or 2G manifold in the Classifieds section. I'm sure someone has an extra one they would be willing to sell you.

Here is a link if you wish to get a fancy new EM.

Regarding your water pipe - try this link. Although what you're looking for may be too specific of a part. I'm not sure. See what you can find. Perhaps you could try to find someone who is parting out his 1G engine. You may get lucky and find a decent piece for a decent price.

Use the 2g O2 housing, depending on what he used to weld the mani may hold up for abit but personally I'd just pick up a used 2g mani which flows better & can be had for cheep if your on a budget. If you want a new mani SBR has/had the evoIII mani on sale for like $140 which again flows better then the 2g & you can always pic up the GT mani for around the same price (all the time) & it comes with gaskets. If you want the top of the line, there's always the FP mani, linked above. For the waterpipe go to your local Mitsu dealer, or pick it up from on of the Mitsu online dealers or aftermarket company such as jnztuning as has great prices. A couple good washes & scrubs with engine degreaser will get that tranny looking new again. Its very common to see crack in the 14b turbine housing, I'd say run it. Can you make 400 whp on the vtrim, probably but it will take some work & alot of owners seem to complain about surge they cant get rid of & slow spool issues. I't recommend a std 50 trim to make your goal.

The green will definitely get you there but thats over1000 unless you find a used one.

Are you gonna go externally gated or internally because thats going to add to the price as well?

Well is a external gate really all that good in reaching my 400 mark. All i remember is that a external gate takes care or some boost creep along with better boosting and not allowing me to use my heat shield. So i say internal unless someone wants to explain why going external is better. Plus right now i dont see a reason to go external. I could use that extra money to beef up my clutch, tranny, or rear end. Cause i know a 2600 or 2900 act clutch is going to eat at my rebuilt tranny. Then the 3 bolt is going to suffer. So im going to wait untill that stuff breaks.

Also should i go with a 2600 or a 2900. I was going to go 2100 but someone said it wont handle 400hp. And that the 2600 will barely handle it.

How long do you think a rebuilt tranny will last with 400hp. Im thinking not to long expecially with track use on weekends. But lets keep in mind im def not guna do 400 daily maybe 400-425 for dyno and track and 300 daily maybe less

A green is a great 50 trim, its extremely proven, has run very quick numbers & is reliable which can't be said for some of the other 50 trims out there. Can you make 400 hp on an internal, sure you probably can, will an external help you get there easier, yes probably will. An external allows much better boost control vs an internal. Inernals have a couple issues first depending on the setup you tend to get creep. So what to most do, enlarge the WG hole & flapper. Great, so that prevents boost creep but it also adds to the other issue of the flappers blowing open at higher boost levels. Even adjustable internals don't have the holding power of an external (of course depending on what external spring your running). An external may also keep the flapper closed longer for quicker spool & not blow open as far under high boost levels allowing the turbo to work less & produce a cooler/denser charge, which is always a good thing. For the 400 hp mark your looking for the 2600 shouldn't have any problems, that is unless you like to make crazy high rpm lanches & just dump the clutch but most other street clutches wont handle this either & the ones that will will put alot more stress on the drivetrain, causing much more expensive damage. How long your rebuilt tranny will lasts depends alot on how you drive it. If your not lanching at every other stop light & when you do lanch you use a proper slipping technique, like the clutch it shouldn't have a problem handleing that kind of power.

wouldn't be hard to clean up that waterpipe if you wanna save some money, sand it all down, polish it, and clear coat with hi-temp clear.

Most internals on a 50 trim are 38mm, this issue with the internal gate is it's ability to hold itself shut against exhaust pressure beyond 22+psi, this is where an external is worth its money, you can still keep the heatshield (may need miner triming) if you get one mounted off the O2 housing.

They have to be ordered at most places. Anything cheaper also.

Another questions is will the 2g o2 housing fit a 50 trim nicely. Expecially when ported?

The 2g O2 housing will be a nice upgrade compared to the 1g as its a larger better flowing housing. Get it ported & it will work great on your 50 trim setup :thumb: Another option is the evoIII O2 housing, which once again is larger then the 2g but this housing isn't recommend unless you have a custom downpipe or one designed specifically for the evoIII housing as it exits at a slightly different angle which if you are able to tweek it, it puts alot of extra stress on the flex section. It also has slightly larger bolt spacing, so probably not worth the extra effort.

ok cool so im going to go with a nice ported 2g o2 i have. Still dont know what 50 trim but i have ideas for my 400 mark.

Also a external is pretty much needed for over 22 psi. Thats homosexual. Now is ebay knock off able to do it or do i actually have to shell out the money for this external gate.

I can't comment on the knock off externals but what I would recommend if your trying to save abit of money is this. Go to Ebay and keep your eye out for Tial wastegates, these are very proven & reliable & are defently what they charge for them. Now if you keep your eyes open there's always guys selling these brand new that bought them then changed their mind on their setup, need cash etc. & you can easily pic a 38mm gate up for $150 in an auction. There's always a bunch a used ones as well which would probably knock about another $50 off the price. Personally I'd trust as well used Tial over a knock off gate anyday.

Daren, please find me a new TIAL 44 for $150, I need one. :D

I wish I could find the 44 for that & if I did I'd keep it for myself ROFL . I have seen new 44's go for the high 200 range which isn't a bad deal. I ended up paying $330 for my 44 from a vendor but I also bought my complete turbo setup from them so it gave me abit of leverage ;)

i already got the tial 50mm BOV. Mine as well keep it in the family.:)

So im kajumbled. Here is my plan. I won my court case today. Had to pay 370 and thats all. So i have about 770 to play with. Im getting my engine back for 500. 150 for my rebuilt head and the rest in block.

Im going to run my crappy cracked mani and little cracked 14b to break in the engine. Once its done being broke in, im taking them off. Slapping on the ported mani and 50 trim.

Also can i tap the mani with a external gate on my own. Or make my own o2 housing with external gate? What would be the better choice. I might lose my shiney heatshield with a tapped mani but performance before looks.

The heatshield isn't for bling LOL, and here I thought you wanted to keep it for performance reasons as in keeping your engine bay temperature down, I was giving you too much credit. ROFL
