Ok well I have posted a couple of threads regarding what to do for with my 6 bolt swap. I have decided I am definitely going to go through with it. My goal is 270-300whp. I am going to run the evo316g turbo with 650cc and a 255 walbro pump. For a while I was determined to get all forged internal and build the head up and everything. Is that actually necessary for my goal? I found a pretty good deal(let me know what you think) on a 6 bolt rebuilt ready to swap into a 2g engine. 2 grand for it complete with flywheel, intake and all needed little parts. It is 1300 just for the engine with no ready to swap in parts.
Would it be a little risky to not put any performance parts in the build? I want to but the place doesn't offer any performance parts. Just a multi layer head gasket.
I will probably build the head up at some point with cams, valve springs and retainers, but building the block after it is installed would be a pain.
This is the engine I am referring to:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/89-92-Eclipse-Laser-Talon-Galant-4G63-Turbo-Engine_W0QQitemZ290093449496QQcategoryZ33615QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Let me know what my best options would be.

Oh and this is only going to be a daily driver, no track time at all. Mostly commuting, but I would like it to have some good power for when I want to have a little legal fun!

You can put a good amount of power out of the motor with all stock internals. As long as it is a good rebuild you will be able to hit your goals. Like you said you can always put cams, springs, and retainers in later.

Yeah i think i read that the stock internals should be good for like 400 hp. If i build the top end up to be a higher revving engine, would the stock pistons and rods still hold up well under the added strain?
I really don't want to have to go back and rebuild the bottom end for a long time. The place i found that would build up the bottom end, seemed real good, but would be a lot more money.
So would the 1g internal be sufficient for my goal for reliability and for my power numbers i would like to achieve?

Also I can reuse my 2g maf and intake right? Are all exhaust components going to bolt up the same as they would on my 2g 7 bolt now? O2 housing and everything? Injectors and fuel rail also swap right over?

Definitely

Yep

Yes it will.

Good luck with everything! I'm doing the swap this weekend :) What CAS are they going to give you? And are they going to modify the intake mani for the MAP sensor?

I haven't personally put down as much power as some of the other people on this site have, but I think the stock bottom end will be able to handle a lot, including the cams.

I am not sure which CAS they are giving. Is there one that i should look for over another? Or you mean just the one for the 2g swap? They said they would supply the CAS adapter or whatever so it fits into the 2g harness. As for the intake mani i would have to ask them if they are going to modify it or not, but i would believe they would.
Does that extra $700 for the ready to drop in 6 bolt seems like it is worth it? Or should i just try to buy all the necessary parts and then add them on for the swap? It does come with a stock flywheel so i might try to get them to come down a little in price to not include the flywheel, cause I'm going with an lightweight one anyways.
Oh also they charge a 150 core charge for my engine. Mine had 150k on it, I'm sure it's still worth a good bit more than that correct?

What happened to your old motor?

Depends on what they are giving you as far as the $700... get them to make a list for you and post it on here so we have a better idea. I know that they usually don't include the VC, oil pan, timing covers, etc with those auctions... so if you add all that up... yeah that still seems a bit high. Just get a list

Well my old motor i don't has anything really wrong with it, I just don't want to invest a lot of money into my car and have my engine blow. It is a 7 bolt, hasn't gotten crankwalk yet so doubt it will, but still does have 150k on it, and i want to go with an evo316g turbo. I would prefer to do that with a rebuilt engine especially a 6 bolt so i know there will be some reliability there for some time to come. i am currently still driving my car with the 7 bolt. I was going to buy a brand new car, but i have really like this eclipse so far, so i thought i should just give it some more time, thus the 6 bolt swap.

My main question i want to make sure of first, is that for the goal i want, will not putting performance internals in the block be a mistake?

As for the part list I will post that as soon as I can get it from them.

Just got off the phone with car king auto. The parts they include for the ready to swap engine would be: 6 bolt oil pan, front engine mount modified to fit, intake manifold modified for map sensor, thermostat housing, water tube, CAS, flywheel, along with new oil pump, water pump, and the rest of the rebuild. They wont do a 2g piston 1g rod setup or anything for me though unfortunately. They said if i didn't want to flywheel they would knock off $75 for me. Still would be like an extra 625 for those parts. I would think i could get that all for like a couple hundred max ordered separately. The shop i am going to have install it(don't have time myself) said it would be $1000 for all labor. As long as i have all the parts the rest would be included. So i would assume they would do the engine mount mod and all the other things for that $1000.
Let me know what you think.
