I was recently having a problem with belt squeel after replacing my belts, so I went ahead and ordered a new Harmonic Balancer. I was surfing around Ebay and I found one for a reasonable price. Upon tearing the belts off and getting the old Balancer off (which 22lbs or torque my butt) come to my surprise they are a tad bit different.

Now I know that sometimes that parts manufacturers can and will change some parts, and they look pretty darn close. I would like another set of eyes to look them over, and give me some advice as to install it or not.

This is the new one I got: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v714/rbx/New1.jpg

I did some research on the forums prior too and seen a post about an 80 dollar Balancer. I read some said they probably wouldn't make a knock off, but the original poster never put a picture up of the differences. I also seen the link to Slow Boy for:

Even with there picture and the one I received there are differences in the amount of "rings" on the part in question. I just need to know if I am paranoid about this or not. Thanks for replying.

There are more pics here too (I didn't want one huge post with a bunch of pics so I will provide links, and divide them into New and Old).

Which rings are you talking about? Your old one looks cracked, is that the ring you're talking about?

Just make sure to check it periodically for the couple months after you first install to see if it starts to crack and fall apart on you.

The rings that I was refering to, is the shiney ring (It was covered in PB Blaster due to the bolts 22lbs of torque hotness). It almost looks like my old one is 3 parts and the new one looks like one solid piece.

I will try and get it installed today, and monitor it for a little while. Hopefully that darn belt squeel goes away. I will update. Thanks again for the posts.

I just finished installing the new Harmonic Balancer. Intial test there is no belt squeel at all. I did notice one thing though installing my Alternator belt. If I spin the Alternator pully CCW it squeeks. Which is really no big thing since the pulley spins CW. I am thinking that maybe the bearings in it are starting to go.

Should I just get a new alternator? I seen the link someone had on repacking the bearings. It seems like it might kinda of be a PTA since I dont have an impact that can take it off.
