I tried to put on my girlfriends new catback exhaust yesterday and i ran into two problems. 1:The holes in the flange that bolt up to the cat are too small for the studs on the cat. and 2:The flange that sits right in front of the rear axle seems to big to fit over the axle:mad: . I've tried pushing and turning from every angle and just can't get it over. Anyone have any ideas for getting the exhaust over the rear axle? I can drill out the holes myself.

P.S.-Looks like i'm gonna be going with VRS or Dejon on my GSX after these problems.

Well i drilled out the holes so it's fitted up to the cat but i still can't get it over the rear axle. The only thing i can think of is pounding a dent in the spare tire well. Does ANYBODY have an alternative to this?

If you bought an ebay brand exhaust, they may have sent you the wrong exhaust.Always, go with a name brand exhaust if it is affordable or available for you to get one. Ebay exhaust are most of the time a universal exhaust, and there is no assurance you are getting the correct exhaust for your car.:talon:

Are you sure it's supposed to go over the top of the rear axle? It sounds like it's designed to go underneath it like many of the aftermarket exhausts.

I was thinking of that too. But maybe I'm giving him more credit than you are. I would hope that he would be able to figure out for himself how the B-pipe and axle-back section were meant to line up. But give it a shot just in case you haven't yet.

By the way, the OP never told us what model Eclipse his girlfriend has. His is a GSX, but what is her's?

From his original discription, it seems that he thinks the pipe is clearly supposed to go over the axle, and that the flange is just too big. I would think he would also say that the B-pipe doesn't seem to line up properly, in which case you would be right. But at this point, all I can do is speculate.

Sorry about the lack of info. The car is a 96 Talon ESi and the exhaust is from Megan Racing. And i already looked at it and lined the whole thing up before we started mounting it and the exhaust follows the stock almost perfect and goes up and over the axle.
