Ok so someone slit one of my oil lines to my turbo a while ago while i was out, don't ask me why it was totally random, so i burnt up the turbo and sunk a rod bearing because little did i know my oil pressure gauge wasn't reading correctly. I've just recently had extra money to do some fixing, so i put in all new rod bearings and a big 16g turbo on a first gen manifold that i got a rediculous deal on. The car started right away and sounds like it's running mint, but it blows a ton of white smoke at idle. If i give it some gas and get into it the smoke disappears. I still have a few things that need to be worked out so i haven't been able to take it for a drive yet, but i was wondering if this is a sign of any major problem. It has been sitting in hibernation for about six months.

Just let it run for a while and drive it for a few days. After swapping turbos things can be a little messy. I would think you just need to burn off some coolant or oil. On the other hand, if this doesn't go away after a while, it could be because you got what you paid for with the turbo. It could be leaking oil or coolant. Check under the car to see if there are any leaks or anything dripping slowly. That's what I'd do first.

Agreed, it's probably a combination of residual chemicals from the turbo and manifold as well as some water vapor which is more visible because of the cold air. If it continues after you've driven the car for awhile then check the oil for signs of coolant mixed in with it. Also check for a characteristic sweet smell to the exhaust which could be coolant.

I completly agree with the other two posts. Most likly it is left over oil or gas, that may have been left in your system when the car broke down. Give it some time also, it should go away within a few days. Its definatly not a blown head gasket since when you give it gas the smoke goes away. You would have seen thick smoke comming out constantly if it was.

alright sounds good. the turbo had like 100 miles on it, with no shaft play whatsoever. will the stock oil lines work with this big 16g? i wanna be sure it's getting oil so i dont burn another turbo up. im still new at all this stuff so it's comin a bit slow :( .

I believe the stock ones will work. People usually say that white smoke means coolant leak and blueish smoke is oil. My gsx smokes at idle every once in a while. Found out its the valve seals

oh ok, now someone i know told me that when you spin a rod bearing that your crank gets messed up. it was only one rod bearing that needed the replacement, and i plan to get a new jdm motor anyway, but if it's running fine now is there some problem that might come into play a bit down the road?
