I'm removing the center console to help aid me in getting at the ecu. I just now need to get this unplugged as it is attached to the power/economy buttone. I spent about 10 minutes trying to get it but I'm at a lost. I really don't want to break it so I might as well ask, do i just pull up the yellow things to release it?

No, I don't think the yellow portion is supposed to come out. Look for the locking tab on either the black or the white plastic connectors. It looks like it might be on the side facing the front of the car. You may have to depress the tab and use a flathead to begin prying them apart if they are really stuck. Hope that helps.

why are you taking it out?
you can just remove the two rug things on the side and remove the 10 mm bolts. slide the ecu up and push it to the back and work it out ...it is lie a five minte job.

ps.i have no clue how to get that clip un hooked..

peace and good luck

Well the only tab is the one on the black part which your can see in the picture.

And I've been tugging at the ecu for awhile and doesn't want to move. I'm pretty sure it's because it's still connected to the harness, which i can't get at with the center console in there.

You shouldn't have to take out the center console to get at the ECU.

Just remove the two side covers, then reach into the console from the passenger side of the car. The tabs for the ECU connectors face the seats. Press in on the tabs with one hand and put your other hand on the backside of the plug and pull the connections straight down, it helps to wiggle the plugs a little while doing this.
Then remove the three 10mm bolts that hold the ECU in. There are also tabs on the ECU that help hold it, release the ECU and pull it out the backside of the console. If you're not using a light while doing this, it will help out a lot so you can see whats going on.

Also you are right about that connection in the picture, push in on the black tab and wiggle the connector out if you are still going that route.

Haha I guess i'll try some more, that's what I've been doing but it doesn't want to budge.

Nope, not yet at least. :D

This is to let me get better acess to the ecu since I'm having problems yanking it out the side.

Ah... I see...;)

Well when you start the relocation, if you need any help just ask. Also, harnesses much like the one you are trying to detach are like some ones on my car. The way I detached them was the way I posted...did that end up working, or are you still trying to get it out?

If worst comes to worst you could always cut and solder:thumb: although it's got to come off with a little more wiggling.

i had to pull those 2 yellow tabs out then press the black one in and forcefuly pull it out.

Now to get that ecu out.

haha idk, but they really need to have ground all the sharp edges off, this damn thing is beating me up. LOL
