I have been trying to searh but cant really find anything out. I was wondering how good the T3/T4 turbo was? Or would a big evo 3 16g be better? My car is mostly stock right now and want to upgade it some but not to much just a daily driver.

I would like to have around 350 or so hp. I dont want to over do it to where its not a daily driver but to where i still have power. I plan on buy fmic and injectors and all the other upgrades i just dont know what turbo i want

From reading these forums on the e316g many members have problems getting around your desired HP. If you do a search and read a few 16g threads you'll see this. There are those who manage to get the Hp you want with the 16g though.

The t3/t4 will make your goal easier, the only downfall is that the spool time is slower. If you want a fast spooling punch turbo, get a 16g. If you want a bit slower spooler monster get a t3/t4. It's your move.

Im not sure if he wants 350hp or 350whp. 350hp is easy to make on a 16g, thats roughly 300whp.

Why all the talk here of a the "t3/t4 turbo"? T3 and T4 are just standard flange types, where as the EVO III 16g and a host of other turbos you can obtain have the MHI (aka "stock") flange. If an EVO III isn't going to be enough, there's the 18g, 20g, FP-series of turbos, ect. There's no need to change to a T3/T4 setup based on what's been stated here thus far.

As has been mentioned, for the goals stated an EVO III that is properly support should prove suitable and the best "bang for the buck".

I would like around 350-400whp. If i put an 18g on there would i have to do some internal work? Or is that good for daily driving?

IMO, for a daily driver there is more to consider than just peak hp figures. Spool time, amount of area under the torque curve, efficiency, etc. A turbo which gives a gain in one performance aspect usually compromises in another area. For the money the EVOIII 16G is a great DD turbo, very fun. Undoubtedly there are other turbos that make more peak hp and will tear up the 1/4 mile but this doesn't necessarily translate into quicker around town driving. For your goals the EVO should suffice and it won't break the bank.

Edit: Just saw your last post. It's not impossible to make that much whp on an EVOIII but it would be difficult. It would take all supporting mods and lots of skilled tuning. My advice again is don't get too caught up a some magic peak hp figure.

It seems like your goal is mostly after Horsepower and not other numbers...This actually does make a difference, as an EvoIII 16g powered car can be built to run 11's without nearly as much work as it would take to make in the upper 300- 400whp range...

For 350whp as a mininimum target, a 50trim would suit your needs...I don't recommend the T3/T4 style, as you can make just as much power by utilizing a 'hybrid' type 50trim that will have a garrett or other compressor with a Mitsubishi Housing so you can bolt it to stock MHI exhaust parts....

Personally, after I hit 11's on an evoIII setup, I will be looking for a PTE SCM5031e, which I think would fit your goals perfectly.....Worried about lag? You shouldn't, but just in case, there's always the $200-300+ option of getting the turbo in a ball bearing version!

Lastly, don't skimp out on supporting mods...A turbo isn't everything, Ive seen plenty of 50trim and larger turbo's dyno 300whp just from lack of tuning....

With DSMLINK, 850cc injectors, Cams, and other important supporting mods, 400whp isn't such a far reach!
