I was just wondering if anyone has bought or knows any information about this product...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LUXU...0QQihZ013QQcategoryZ33721QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I tried matching the groves in the key to my own and also sent the seller a question if it would match but no answer. I'm not fond of the idea of cheap ebay products but its the only thing like that i could find. I might just buy it and see since its not that expensive.

Thanks

P.S. I just think it would be cool to have the remote and key together. :rocks:

I bought an alarm off ebay once (same.. or very similar to that one).. didnt come with that key, but the quality was really good. I never installed it, sold it to a friend, but he never had a problem with it..
Though that key does look really cool.. I want to make one for my pager alarm.. but im to lazy ;)

## crazy! If you but that alarm fro your DSM, I want your address, I live in NY as well. So I would be more then happy to get a few buddies and two cases of beer (one for the trip there and on for the way back) to help me take away your car. The word "steal" shouldn;t be used, b.c with that alrm your basically giving it away! YOU should go with a real alarm either clifford or viper, if you like the flip out keys then buy them here:

Dont knock it until you try it. As I said, I bought a similar alarm (then sold it) but its currently being used on a friends civic, No problems with it. Its a very basic alarm, but very good quality. Its better then what you would find in a store like walmart.
But is till wouldn't trust that alarm to protect my car.. as i said, its very basic. just a fancy keyless entry.. with shock sensor.

How could you miss with a key like that? Can you say, "Babe. Magnet." ?
Hm. Same price for the key as for the alarm and key. Decisions, decisions.

Still, it ain't a bali-song.

What keydoes that derive from? Flip out keys are old. They are of the older Mercedes. We own two new Mercedes the 05 230 Kompressor and 06 240. The keys are black and all plstic you just stick it in.

Yea i've seen them pop up on ebay from time to time you gotta just keep your eyes out for one.

Back to my original reason for starting this thread. The seller(for the benz style alarm) sent me an email stating that it will work with all 89-99 eclipse's and if not i will be able to return it so i think I'm gonna buy one this weekend...:shhh: for 45 bucks shipped why not.

P.s. I will keep everyone updated on the quality and what not related to this product!!!

So how is it?

i recieved the alarm a few days ago and haven't had time to install, plus its frezzing out side...(wish i had a garage). But the product seems to be of deciend quality and from matching it up to my regular key i looks like it will work.

Josh

Ps I should be getting around to install within a few weeks once it warms up. i'll post a review when done with everything:dsm:

I HAVE THAT ALARM! Well not that one, but this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/85-9...tegoryZ33721QQihZ019QQitemZ290102865383QQrdZ1

I wanted to get the one originally posted, but the EBAY seller is not selling it anymore. And only the one above was available. It looks slightly different, the one I have has this LED light which is cool. IT WORKS GREAT! Quality looks pretty good as well. The price is right.

The KEYFOB looks BIGGER in the pictures than actuality. They are not that big at all. The only problem with mine is the blank keys are for Toyotas only. I thought it would work for Mitsus since the length and just the overall design would work. But the notches are different. That is exactly why I wanted to get the one posted by the thread maker. I underestimated EBAY sellers. They are actually being truthful about their products! HAHA. But overall it works great, thanks to my friend who helped me install it. Now I have to go to a locksmith and see if they sell the blank part that can attach to the flip mechanism. The blank on the flip key fob IS removable. It's not part of the actual part that flips out. Theres a slot in there with 2 tiny screws, where the blank is inserted into and screwed down.

well i have two different ideas to fix your problem....

1. Get a spare key made. then i have seen other flip key alarms were you cut the key and then i guess screw it in the remote. Not sure if this is do able but hey its an idea.

2. buy one of these..http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MITS...9QQihZ012QQcategoryZ40016QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
and pop out the key part. or maybe switch the guts (circuitboard) from the one with the toyota key to the one with the right key.

Just some ideas if the locksmith thing doesn't work out.........:rocks:

Thanks for the suggestion, I actually saw that flip key fob on ebay. But it is too expensive. It's almost the price of my alarm, and the alarm you mentioned purchasing. Maybe if the buttons were functional and actually a programmable keyfob. That was definitely desperate measures.

I went to a locksmith, but they can't shape the end of the key. Which is a unique shape to fit the flip key fob. So what I did I just had another key made, without any rubber holder at the end. Then I just used a dremel and cut/sand/cut/sand. I eventually manipulated it to fit the flip keyfob. The hardest part was making the slot where the tiny screws holds it in.

But it's all good now. Alarm works great for the price, key flip is very very cool haha.

punkak2, you bought the one in the link that you posted right? Who was the manufacturer of yours? It should say on the box, mine was Inwells.

Yes i did purchase the alarm in my original link but they sent me one for a honda so i sent it back a few days ago and I am waiting for the right one.

as far as the brand i have no clue because i don't read chinese or japanies (can't tell which it is):notgood:

RedTurbo, can you send me some pics of what you did to get the key to fit the remote!!

Yea, all you need is to get spare key made and then modify it to fit in the flip fob. There's a DIY on the vwvwortex, I'll try to find it. People do it all the time.

EDIT: found it
http://www.pocketrocket.ca/switchblade_key.html
Also, one of my friends does this conversion for a fee. If you're interested let me know.

thanks, that link is exactly what i did, but in a more ghetto fashion. It works thought and looks very nice.

You mentioned your friend does this? How much, just curious. It would be much easier if someone sold just the blanks to fit the flip keyfobs. The end looks all the same. gets smaller with a notch and a slightly lowered base. Then we could just bring it to any key copier.

alright so it turns out i got burned on the ebay deal so i found another place that that sells a simular kit.....www.autodoodad.com

They offer group buys so i was wondering if anyone was interested..? i can find out numbers if anyone else wants in... pm me for info:dsm:

What happened on the EBAY deal? Yea that link you posted, was the ONLY one selling the flip key alarm with mitsubishi blank. When I was looking for it when I bought the one I showed you above, it was no more, then I see the seller no longer has any items for sale.

The autodoodad one is double the price, if you just purchase the one I did, and are willing to go through some extra process to make a mitsu key fit, it will still be cheaper. Not to mention the one I have has this nice bright LED on the key fob.

redturbo can you post up some picks of what your key looks like now that it is finished?

The first attached pic is the original blank key the flip key fob came with, for Toyotas, will NOT work on mitsubishis/eagle.

I didn't follow the link posted above, although it wouldve helped if I had known about it, but the process I did was similar, minus the professional tools he used. All I used was a dremel with cutting blade. Made a key from any key copier, WITHOUT the rubber end, which eliminates the need to have to remove it as stated by that link. Why go through more process? Also it should be cheaper without it, and your going to cut/remove it anyways. Then I placed the blank key that came with the keyfob over the mitsu key I just made and used it as a stencil to get a rough trace.

I then used the dremel and cutting wheel and cut away. After most of the unnecessary material was out, I then again put the blank toyota key that came with the fob over the now hacked Mitsu key, then used a vice grip to clamp them together, making sure the tip of the keys were aligned with each other. Then used the dremel with cutting wheel again to finely match up the mitsu key with the blank.

After that as you can see the blank one is stepped lower at the mounting base. So I used the sanding attachment on the dremel and also stepped down the mitsu key.

The hardest part was the slot. Not hard, but if you mess up your screwed. The tutorial link above gives a good way to do it. I actually tried to do it that way and drill it, I had a small enough drill bit, but my drill would not clamp it, wasn't meant for drill bits that small. So what I did; if you followed what I had mentioned at this point, your new mitsu key SHOULD fit in the key fob now like the toyota blank that came with it. When it was in there, I used a marker/pencil and dotted where I had to drill/cut.

After that I put back the cutting wheel and slowly and carefully, just made a slot of my own. Then used the same screws and put it in, the screw hopefully making the threads in my ghetto made slot. It is VERY secure, and havnt had a problem.

Very very very very sleek and pimp IMO. And functional because it is my alarm key fob. EBAY FTW AGAIN! With electronics components, relies a lot on the installation, we've been trusting china/taiwan no name brand dvd players, the same factories make these I'm sure, if you do a research on buying wholesale you will see. :)
