can someone give me a site were i can find a step my step for replacing a head on a 1g i did plenty of research and found nothing

www.buschurracing.com Stage 1 is pretty much a stock replacement. It'll tell you what you need.

Oops i guess you just wanting to rebuild you head or throw another one on. MY bad I just read the title and it said step my step not by step. My fault, I get a haynes manual, it'll be your best friend

I think your best bet will be a haynes manual or the like.

Actually give me a second...

Okay got it, this will only be up for a couple days, it's on my website, so let me know when you get it.

Let me know if you need anything else,
Steve

hey man thanks i will start tomorrow i will let you know if i need anything thank you

cant get head bolts out they seem like they keep spinning up not coming out need help

After I loosened mine all of the way i used one of those magnet pen wand things to get them out.

well i dint even break them loose they seemed loose to start with

I am in the middle of changing the head on my 90 since it self destructed. If you have any questions just shoot me a pm.

Also, don't forget the big bracket on underside of the intake mani or you will never be able to pull the head off LOL.

also remember when you are completely done with everything if you leave the intake manifold on stick a pipe in the throttle body opening and lift up it's the easiest way to break the head from the block. and another thing since this is your first time, when removing like vac hoses or just about any hoses go get some of that tan tape and a marker and label everything and put all your bolts in a bag and label everything that'll make the reinstall easy and take you not even half the time it takes to remove it.

ok man thanks i dint have any trouble gettin the head off it pulled right off

I second the labeling idea. It's always a good practice when you're tearing stuff apart for the first time. Some cheap, no-name Ziploc type baggies, masking tape and a minute of your time will help make the reassembly process a breeze.

"cant get head bolts out they seem like they keep spinning up not coming out need help"

By chance, do you mean the valve cover bolts? I ask because, on a 1G, the valve cover has almost certainly been off of the car before, and the torque specification for those bolts is only around 3-4 foot-pounds. So there are usually a few that've been stripped and they'll do exactly what you just described when you try to remove them.

Before you reinstall the cover, I'd suggest running out and picking up a Heli-Coil kit and fixing the stripped holes. You'll have fewer leaks to contend with and you won't go through a tube of RTV every time you have to take your valve cover off. In fact, with all bolts tightened to spec and a new valve cover gasket (including the spark plug well gaskets) there should be no leaks at all. If you don't have a small torque wrench that has an inch-pound scale, use a nut driver and hand tighten. The valve cover on my 1G had at least one leak I could never get rid of. I had to Heli-Coil nearly all of the bolt holes for the VC, but when I was finished, that sucker never leaked again.
