Hi,

I have been trying to figure out what should normally be here. Unfortunately I cannot find any images or anything detailing it in the Haynes manual, nor vfaqs/howtos, etc. I am sure the information is there but I have been having trouble finding it. I am somewhat in the boonies, so its been dificult to find someone with the knowledge, so I figure I'll ask you guys, the experts:

thats where the biss screw is, usually there is a little black plug in the hole but seems like someone got creative and put there own on there
 
OMG . I bet you have a leak from there. you might want to replace it.
And good luck trying to get it out! (it is still in there right?) You may want to drill it out as your last option (but you have to make sure there is no leftover). OR Use a hammer to hit a screwdriver and redo the marks on the biss screw.

Basically its my '90 TSi that has been fairly faithful until recently. I have mostly been concentrating my cash flow into suspension (just stock, replacing all the joints) and normal maintenance. It started missfiring and the idle was going wonky like when the intake hosing cracked on my old Saab 900 turbo, so I suspected something was leaking. Obviously that part of the throttle body isn't stock, I knew that, but was somewhat functional to begin with.

I traced down a leaking sound to it though, and removed the red rubber cap and as you can see, there's some remnant of JB Weld inside. It looks like there's a notch at the top of the hole that I don't believe is supposed to be there, and I do not know how its supposed to look stock. I'll take a picture of the notch specifically in the daytime. It'ld be a bi*** to weld back up and grind smooth so hopefully its still usable. Sadly, there's no reference cars around town.
 
Hey on the 1G TB, what is the little electrical contact that is in front of the spring mechanism? I'm assuming there's supposed to be something clipped to it but on my 2G there's nothing clipped there. I'm running the a (4-port) 1G TB and IM right now btw
