Some people will go crazy when they upgrade their turbocharger. Not me! I felt that spending nearly 11 hours of burns, cuts and scraps, were worth it...kinda... :thumb:

anywho. 13g > t25!

i just had it laying around. doing nothing. it was in very good shape so i just use it. I do have a 16g that i need to rebuild. But i will need some more crap to get it to work, so i didnt bother at this time. I used the 2g manifold, which i did not port match the turbo to. Also used the 2g O2 housing. Stock exhaust still, woo.

end result? well aside from the hell of retrofitting and seeing what parts work where, between turbos to get the job done, its kinda straight forward. only overheated once from an airbubble, had two oil leaks, and blew the charge pipe off and had to drive up a 30 degree incline to get back to the shop...at 10 mph....LOL.

Generally though, im content. At about 2 psi less than i was running on the T25. ( meaning im at ~17psi, with some spiking, ran almost 20 on the T25). It acts much different than the T25. Not as spikey and has better top end. So aside it taking way too long, id say it was worth it.

Anyone who takes that kind of a beating for a 13g is either crazy or insanely awesome in my book. :thumb:

Never had the chance to run on my 13g [its pieces and chunks were sitting in a box in the trunk when I bought the car], but from what I can see, ~17psi is crazy, especially for the size.

So you put a 1g auto turbo on your 2g, why didnt you just buy a 14b hehe? Nice work, I think this is the only time I've seen somone put a 1g auto turbo on their 2g.

well the story behind me having the turbo is i bought from a local j-yard over the summer. 100 dollars, and i took alot of things with it. The turbo is basically mint. But when i bought it was didnt know much about the DSM cars yet (huge rotary guy) so i didnt know i was getting the 13g. Thought it was a 14b. Anywhay, it sat around my garage until this weekend, where i found myself bored. So i just jumped into it.

Also, my TSI is automatic...

Best way to kill boredom, hands down.

Is it just me, or do a lot of rotary guys get into DSMs as well? [First car was a '79 Rx7, owned 7 FC-chassis' since :thumb: ]

Good job on making it work. Most people would have given up long before even getting the old stuff taken apart. :thumb:
