ok so this is going to be hard to explain but bassically i was putting in my new sub box and amp rack with my old sub and amp i had in the before. I hooked it all up and it seemed to be working fine. I took my amp out one more time becasue i had to drill another hole.i was connecting the wires back to the amp and when i put the R.E.M. wire back in it sparked and then my head unit did the security beeping it always does before it shuts off and it turned off. Now my head unit wont turn on, my amp wont turn on, and i have no music! I checked the fuses i coulod see and i replaced one that was blown. I checked the power goin to each unit and it seems fine. Could i have blown my headunit? I dont know what to do. Is there like a hidden fuse? Any help would be much appriciated

ALWAYS disconnect power, when messing with power wires!!!:toobad: Being as the remote wire is not a fused wire. Chances are your problem is within the headunit itself. Most likely a blown diode in the power circuit. It may be fixable, If you know someone who does this kind of work? Or if the unit is still in warranty? Go that route... It probably didn't hurt the Amp, try using a jumper wire from a power source to kick the amp on to see if it's ok?

If worst comes to worst, you can always get your deck bench tested. That remote wire probably did the above mentioned.

Yeah, don't forget to disconnect next time. Could've been a costly mistake. Since it blew the fuse, you might've also did something to the wiring. You test the voltage of the of the hot and remote wires going to the deck?

This is a prime example of why you disconnect power before you start ANYTHING related to power. Not only did you harm your equipment, but you could have been hurt.

Check the fuse on the back of your headunit. Being it was the remote wire, you more than likely hurt something on the internal of your headunit. If youre not sure, try a different headunit (with the battery disconnected) and see what happens.
