wastegate questions??pics!!!

I recently bought a Holset HX40 with the Bullseye power housing. I have a 38mm tial wastegate so the internal wastegate was removed by Timsturbos.com but now there is just a hole where the flapper was. with it constantly open how is it supposed to build boost this is how it looks. am i suppose to block it off or is this the way it is suppose to be????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

this is my build project..i just put everything together to see if it'll bolt on and if i have to crush my waterpipe.

you are correct to believe it will not build pressure, if you are using the original o2 housing that still reverts the wastegate door to the down pipe, cause all the exhaut will come out of it instead of powering the turbine. you can do a couple of things. one is to try and plug the opening. but will be very difficult to do cause of welding the casting. but there are different o2 housings that block off the wastegate port. it just bolt right up. check out www.shearerfabrications.com they have an o2 housing thats a V-band. and i know there are a few more co. out there that more. i'll update as soon as i find them.

yeah weld that shut and run an external. Youll have a hard enough time getting a turbo that is meant for a 18:1 compression, 5.9 litre diesel to spool. We had a HX35 on a 2.2 omni. Unless you where going 100mph or at 6000 rpms, it didnt make anything. We took it off. you may have a better experience...

well i just contacted Tim at Timsturbos.com and he is going to send me a new housing with the hole covered up. we'll see how it works out.

also HX35 spooling at 6000 rpms???? wow. I did alot of research on different turbos and from what i read and heard that the Holset HX series turbos gets full boost around 3k -4k rpms. of course thats with the bullseye power housing. was it the same housning? we'll see how it works out and i'll let you all know.

well this was a factory housing. I didnt see mention of changing the a/r ratio. Factory is a T3, but yeah, aside from the flange, its a beast. Perhaps the hot side is different?
