I had the SBR 3500 clutch kit and one day I was driving, took the car out of gear to downshift but couldn't get it into gear without revmatching it. I finally got it home and it sat for months because between college and work I had absolutly not time to work on it. Well saturday I had a day off and finally pulled the tranny, I wish I had pictures, but I don't. The metal encasing the clutch springs broke around two of them and one spring got loose and lodged between the pressure plate and the disk. Has anybody ever had this problem with a SBR clutch before? I saw on there website that they sell a disk for $125 that talks about the ACT clutches losing springs, but is this any better? At anyrate I was wondering if it would be possible to use the SBR Pressure plate with a stock disk? I realize if it works it won't be as good as the whole SBR setup, but this college kid is broke and I have a brand new stock clutch kit sitting here. Any input would be great.

How old is the disk (age wise)? SBR did "revise" their clutch disks a few months ago.

I had an SBR disk show signs of premature wear (had the tranny out and it looked like 2 springs wanted to pop out) so I ordered a new disk... It DOES look quite a bit beefier, and I doubt it will give problems. I drove that one for a few thousand miles, then took the car off the road.

Either try a new disk, or I would assume a stock disk would work, they work with ACT clutches (although not recommeneded)

Yes we did revise the clutches not long ago. We were having issues with the origional clutches breaking the hubs on the disk. The first batch we got was awesome, every other one after that seemed to be crap. I can assure you that the new clutches do not have the same issues as the old ones and hold up to whatever is thrown at it within its limits!!!

As a consumer, did you provide a refund/replacement? Just curious cause others would tend to blame the consumer first before checking out their product. :)

thats just like the ACT disc's, the full face ones. i ordered a "kit" from somebody... but the disc was crap. ordered a new one. and WOW. it was amazing the different, it had 4 dual springs, instead of 6 small ones... and the center hub was soooo much bigger.

i guess everybody is revising there parts finally.

The manufacturer making old clutches did give a warranty but after the first batch of bad ones they were giving us a hard time replacing them, thats one of the reasons why we quit dealing with them.
