I originally purchased a HKS BOV with the flange for the 2g. I did a 1g motor swap so i purchased a 1g intercooler (short route). Anyways, the intercooler has a 1g flange so i purchased the hks 1g flange form dsm parts. I want to remove my BOV off the 2g flange but I dont know how to do it. Is there a special tool or something that can remove it. I see it has the ring with the 2 holes so maybe someone can help me out in trying to remove this thing so I can put it on my new flange. thanks

He's talking about the std snap ring that the SSQV uses. They have special snap ring pliers that are used to remove these but if you don't have a pair (most don't) then a standard pair of needle nose pliers with smaller tips will work fine. If you don't have that then usually you can also use a couple screw drivers, small slotted or a punch style, put one in each hole and squeeze them together to compress the ring. That method usually works better with two people so while one person is compressing the ring the other can pry up on the ring to pop it out of its slot in the mating surface.

Ok the one with the red circles, those are the two hooks inside the flange, im not sure if thats how i remove it but i think it is because thats whats stopping me from being able to take it off. the other pic is the flange itself that i need to remove to put my new flange on

daren_p thanks, im going to try it when someone gets home to help. good thing my laptop came with 2 very small screw drivers cause the do fit in but its hard by myself.

yup.. those are snap rings.... you need some pliers or some screwdrivers and an extra set of hands... squeeze those 2 holes together and pull it out

tHANKS FOR THE HELP. I WILL LET YALL KNOW HOW IT GOES LATER ON WHEN MY FATHER COMES BY TO HELP

Little helpful hint: Put some masking tape (Couple layers) on the sides of your HKS SSQV BOV so that you don't scratch it up when trying to get the c-clip out.

I had a terrible time trying to get the c-clip in with some snap ring plyers, so I have no idea how you are going to get that thing out with needle nose or two screwdrivers.

But maybe its easier getting the c-clip out then it is, in? Good luck

One other thought, if the valve itself gets in the way, they do make needle nose pliers that have the tips bent 90 deg which would make access easier. A properly sized set of needle nosed pliers seem to work almost as well as snap ring pliers but are are easier to find at a local store (well that is for the type of snap ring that the SSQV uses, that you have to compress. For the rings that you need to expand, the proper snap ring pliers make it easier because of how the handles operate but thats a different story ;) )

If you dont want to scratch the bell housing of the BOV, and make things easier. Remove every other allen bolt and it should come off and you will have much more room to remove the c-clip.

You should know this because I assume you are recirculating if running stock MAS and have to do this anyways to insert the recirculation fitting.

Good point. Never thought about that:thumb:
