So i recently acquired a 1990 eagle talon awd manual i didn't really want a 90 because of all the differneces, but I got a pretty good deal on it and it was 5 minutes from my house. Just curious to know from some other owners of 90 cars is it a big pain or not that big of a deal owning a 90. I know from research now that the trannys are different, aswell as the ecu, shifter, and coil pack. What are common problems you run into with a 90 car that you wouldn't normally with a 91-94 car?

They all have the same problems really. Having a 90 is no different than having a 91-94 except for a few minor things that you stated. I had a 90 and had no problems with it for over a year. Had almost ~200k miles. Depends on how well the car was taken care of.

I've had a 90 for 10years or so now and they work just as well. Some of the other differences are throtle body, external oil cooler and cams. Other than those particular items being a little harder to find used there is no real difference in reliability.

I have had mine since 95 . I have broke / worn out things . No problems every other 17 year old car has . My car is older than some of our members . ROFL ROFL

Wait 90's have different cams? Are they better or worse than the 91-94? Iv'e got a set layin around...

They are worse. They have the smallest lift and duration of all 1g turbo cams. If you do want to change the cams out, go with 93-94 non turbo cams as they have the longest lift and duration. But to answer the original poster's question, have not had any problems since I've had it for almost 2 years with over 156k on it.

I own a 90 but its n/t so it's probably not much help to you but just to throw in my life with my car the only real problem I had was my transmission which i replaced with a 91. Other than that I've had no problems except maintenance

I have had 2 1990 lasers. Only have 1 right now. Have had the normal stuff go out. Given my car has 281,000 miles on it but still runs like a champ.
