thought i make a new thread because more than just the people helping me lately may know the answer to this.

Ok, i am looking to buy a new exhaust now, and after alot of searching, i too like the Magnaflow quiet a bit. I searched and found a million places that sell the exhaust, and also saw that i shuold go with ebay. Before i pick a random company off ebay, i have a few questions. I want to get a turbo-back, i am not really looking to pay someone twice to install exhaust stuff, so i want to do it in one swoop.

I found about 10 links to Magna flow exhaust systems, all the same price.

question 1, a "exhaust system" is cat back, correct? well i am almost positive, i didn't see a cat in the picture -> http://www.car-stuff.com/performanc...7&model=186&brand=3069&part_name=83&category=

*edit* ok check that link ^^

that is the same pic i saw in all the links i found on the internet. Well should i just go with the cat back, and not worry about the turbo back? And all 10 i found were the same part number, but which one will work for a GS-T? the 470 one says Engine – Chassis:
3.8L, V6 — Eclipse

but that doesn't make sense for a 95-99..

I think i would want to buy a magna flow cat so i could increase the flow through my exhaust system, but as you may know, i am pretty new to this, so unsure if i need it.

If i could get some advice on the exhaust system, i would appreciate it. Goals are around 250 whp, so 2.5 inch is ok (and cheaper right? :) ) but i want the full exhaust, not just the tip.

thanks! read here if you want to learn what i have done to my car already with help from you tuners http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=252567

theres only 2 applications in that link you posted. nither are for a turbo model. one is for a 420A non turbo and the other looks to be for the super illusive 3.8 V6 model ROFL

your best bet would be to go with a full turbo back, the stock downpipe/midpipe is super restrictive. my buddy had an apexi catless downpipe with a bushur 2.5 catback and it was pretty queit until WOT then it wounded really deep and nice.

also not sure what your looking to spend so if your trying to stay relativley cheap, contrary to popular belief ebay downpipes arent all that bad, ive seena few in person and i couldnt find anything bad about them.

i don't have a problem with money really, i just know i want a magnaflow, it is the sound i like.

that website is weird, it seemed to work with other places, they were all the same, even at magna flows website.

really all i want is a magna flow exhaust, where do i go ?!?!?

wait, are they all magnaflow muffler?

that makes more sense, i would wanna go stainless steal

maybe STAINLESS STEEL, 2.5 INCH, TURBO-BACK SYSTEM FOR FWD

or do i want the

STAINLESS STEEL, 2.5 INCH, TURBO-BACK SYSTEM WITH O2 ELIMINATOR FOR FWD

is that just the housing? i need to keep it legal man :)

I love my magnaflow! It sounds more motor and doesn't have that lame resonator like all the N1 style systems. Magnaflow also has some great styles that don't look like a coffee can on the back of your car. Mine is flatter so you don't see the muffler from under the car, and the tip is a large polished oval more like a lexus IS300 but with balls.

yea i know i like the sound, that is hardly the issue now, i am sold >.<

i just need to know where to buy now LOL. i have had some people point me in the right direction, but i always end up at a dead end.

A friend of mine has the Magnaflow 3" system and it sounds really good. It doesnt have that constant loud scream like most systems do. It has a mellow sound at idle but it does open up loudly at WOT. There's no in car drone either which is what I liked about it

i appreciate all the feedback, but i am really looking for help in find a place that sells a turbo back system.

here there is a cat back for $440 http://www.vrsexhaust.com/MAGNAFLOWCB__/MAG-MITSUBISHI/mag-mitsubishi.html and that isn't bad at all.

However than i would need a down pipe and cat to reak the benefits of the exhaust right? So can anyone that can just tell me if i should go with the above cat back and than tell me what to do for the cat and down pipe, i would appreciate it.

It is 3 inch piping, which is larger than i was thinking i would need, but for 440, it isn't too bad, right? I was looking at just getting 2.5 but, i really need help picking the piping and the exhaust and everything. Anyone who has recently installed a magnaflow and did it from the turbo back, please help with some advice on where to get the parts. It is weird for me to buy things on the internet, so i need trusted websites, and your guys advice.

thanks

I say for the price buy the magnaflow catback, then find a downpipe either from here used/new or peruse the net for a quality one. I dont condone buying cheaper products off of ebay ect. because I have rarely seen much good come out of it.

There's nothing wrong with mixing/matching parts to get the outcome you are looking for.

if i go with the $440 3 inch cat back, what would i need to buy next?

I would need a 3 inch high flowing cat and than a 3 inch down pipe, is there anything else i would need? would i have to get any adapters or anything to go from the down pipe to the engine? And what to i need to know about the 02 sensor? Does the O2 sensor housing come with most down pipes, or is that something i connect the down pipe to and the 02 housing connects to the engine? Is there a certain size i need for anything? or just make sure it all says 3 inch?

I am giong to have a muffler shop do the install for me, but i am getting the parts myself because it is cheaper, even he said that to me, he didn't tell me what parts to get, probably assuming i knew the basics of an exhaust, although i don't really.

You can getthem with o2 housings, for use with stock housings, ect. Peruse the classified ad's on this site you will prob find something and save yourself some coin.

Most exhaust places will prob have no idea what you are talking about or looking for or even where to get it concerning your dsm. I know if I took mine to one here where I live they would stare at me blankly

and we are supposed ot trust these people to install my exhaust >.<

i'll keep looking myself, gotta find all the parts for my system so i can get them all installed.

I have the Magnaflow muffler, and i love it. But i would go with RNR like mine they do a full turbo back system relativly cheap. It sounds great and you can even hear the turbo spool through it. Dont go catback, you will end up kicking yourself later on for not getting the downpipe. Like you said in your first post you dont want to do the exhaust twice. Here is the link. Though they website says nothing about magnaflow, i was able to order my exhaust with it.

That really is a good price for a SS Magnaflow system. Like some of the other guys I have a Magnaflow and love the deep sound. You might be able to get something cheaper on ebay. But personally I would get the Magnaflow catback and then separately purchase a downpipe and high flow cat. It sucks not getting what will be personally gratifying and then having regrets later.
