Hey whats up guys? I recently decided to pull me head to replace the headgasket, it was showing signs of seepage and wanted to replace the hg, timing belt, balance shaft belt and both tensioners. Upon pulling my head I found that both sets of exhaust valves in cylinders 2 and 3 were discolored, orangish and flakey, as far as I can tell there is no actually damage to the valves themselves, no chipping or pitting, just looks as if theres severe carbon build up. Im just looking for opinions on what would cause this...the head is going to a machine shop for a re-build, but still curious on what would be the root cause of this....thanks....
