So today i plan on replacing my drivers side axel due to a popping noice and klunking. I dont know if i have to remove the tranny oil before i take the axel out? Anyone know?

nope... I just did this yesterday.... to make it easier, do it like this....

get a socket wrench and unbolt the 2 bolts that are bolted to the back of the block... its a bracket that is in the middle of the axle...

unscrew the giant nut that is in the brake hub.. ya know, at the end of the axle....

UNBOLT THE BRAKE LINES FROM THE STRUT!!! This makes removal of the axle from the wheel hub hella easy...

The just grab the axle with both hands... one hand on the inner axle, one on the outer... then pull... its really easy...

To put it back on easier, put the axle back in and bolt everything back together on the strut, sheel hub, and axle.... DO THE 2 BOLTS IN THE BACK OF THE MOTOR LAST!!! If you do it this way, it will be very easy... the only hard part is getting the bracket to line up on the back of the block... but do it like this, and it will line right up....

hahaha... REP POINTS FOR MEEEEEE... just kidding

o... didnt know that.... but yeah... push till you feel it snap... I know that on 1g, the axle that goes from the transfer case to the driver wheel hub is ALL 1 piece.... so on the 2g, they separated them into 2 separate pieces?? o well... makes everything easier on you...

o yeah... a little bit of moly grease on the axle splines wouldnt hurt... make them last longer and putting them in and taking them out will be easier... have fun
